Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Mississippi Rebels vs LSU Tigers

The Ole Miss Rebels will travel to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to battle the sixth ranked team in the nation in the LSU Tigers on Saturday night at 9 pm EST in SEC action.  The last time these two teams met would be on October 21, 2017, as the Tigers would get the 40-24 win on the road as they would have 593 yards total for the game while dominating in the trenches in racking up 393 rush yards for the contest.  They would also cover the spread as 6.5-point road underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 59 points for the game.  In their last outing, the Tigers would pick up the 38-21 home win over the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech as they would not cover the spread as 19 point home favorites, however.  The Rebels would pick up the 38-17 home win over the Kent Sate Golden Flashes a they would also not cover the spread in the win yet while the under would be the result for both teams.  The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings amongst these teams while the under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings, altogether.  The Rebels are 7-2 ATS in the last nine games versus LSU in Baton Rouge.

Mississippi Rebels's Latest Performance :

Ole Miss would break open a 7-7 halftime tie versus the Golden Flashes to outscore them 31-10 in the second half en route to the win in their last time out.  Scottie Phillips, DJ Metcalf, Jordan Ta’amu, and Isiah Woullard would each score touchdowns during the second half while Ta’amu threw for 442 passing yards along with two TD’s and one interception.  The rushing attack put up 209 yards on the ground with Phillips having 112 yards while Metcalf had 102 receiving yards in the victory.  The defense for the Rebels, which allow a whopping 38 points per game, held Kent State to 242 yards passing along with 148 yards rushing on the day, yet, would collect two turnovers while allowing them to hold the football for 27:52 minutes.  Of course, they will receive a healthy dose of the LSU running game this weekend as they have proven that they have issues in this area.  Also, the Tigers will be looking to run up the scoreboard over time against the Rebels who are ranked 120th in the nation in total yards allowed.

LSU Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Tigers went up 24-7 at the half while cruising to victory over the Bulldogs last weekend as they accumulated 409 yards of total offense while the rushing attack put up 218 yards led by Nick Brossette (23 rushes, 78 yards, 3 TD’s) along with Clyde Edwards-Helaire (20 rushes, 176 yards, 2 TD’s).  Joe Burrow passed for 191 yards in the air as Dee Anderson had 80 receiving yards on the night on five catches.  The 10th ranked LSU rush defense allowed only 87 yards on the ground to the Bulldogs while their 89th ranked passing attack allowed 330 passing yards along with three touchdown passes in the win.  they will certainly need to perform better in this area as the Rebels are ranked 10th in the nation in averaging 348 yards passing on their opponents.

How Mississippi Rebels & LSU Tigers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

LSU is 2-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

Ole Miss is 2-2ATS while the O/U is 2-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

While Ole Miss will certainly show up to play in this contest, I simply cannot see how they will contend with a physical Tigers team that will be looking to pound the ball throughout the game.  In other words, the Rebels have not performed well in rush defense, which will be an an area to where LSU will certainly exploit.  With that being said, it will be tough sledding for the Rebels this weekend as they will attempt to prevent the home team from gaining too much confidence in the run game while keeping the game as close as possible.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  LSU Tigers -11.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Tigers in this contest as I really see them dominating the Rebels in the trenches while also covering the spread in easy fashion versus a team that cannot stop the run.  Of course, the Tigers will also take their shots downfield in this matchup, however, their running game will indeed be the tip of the spear in taking control of this SEC contest on their way to a conference victory.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 59.5

My reason for the prediction :

I like the under in this matchup as the Tigers will allow some points to the road team, yet, they will dominate on the ground on offense which will serve to eat huge amounts of clock, thus preventing the Ole Miss offense to gain any type of momentum.  Also, this will be a tough, physical matchup where points will be far and few in between, so, the under will certainly be a strong play for these two SEC teams.

Betting trends for Mississippi Rebels:

    • Rebels are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points.

Betting trends for LSU Tigers:

    • Tigers are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 conference games.
    • Under is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
    • Under is 5-1 in Tigers last 6 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
