How Utah Utes & Stanford Cardinal Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Utah is 1-3 ATS while the O/U is 2-2
Stanford is 3-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Stanford will have trouble moving the ball in this matchup as the Utes are not allowing their opponents much on the ground or in the air, despite Minshew having an all-star contest in their last outing. Nonetheless, Stanford will have to pick their poison as their running game simply has not been able to get it done in averaging 94 yards per game. With that being said, they will need to utilize their 57th ranked pass offense that averages 246 yards per game to somehow find some open spaces within the Utah defense that will certainly be looking for a much better effort than in their last contest.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Utah Utes +5
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Utes to cover the spread in this matchup as Stanford has lost the identity that they have held for the past few years. This identity entailed them having a dominating rushing attack that opened opportunities for their passing game. However, this year, they are struggling to dominate in the trenches, something Utah thrives on and has been very successful in implementing in 2018. It is for this reason that the Utes will keep this game close while also having an opportunity to win outright in this Pac 12 matchup on Saturday.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 46
My reason for the prediction :
With Stanford’s offense struggling mightily along with Utah’s offense being average at best, I will ride the under as the strongest play in this matchup. Both defenses are solid and allowing from 16-18 points per game to their opponents while the under has been the play in two of the last three games for Utah while being the result in the last three games for Stanford at home. In all, this will be a defensive minded contest to where both teams will battle within the trenches throughout in which to gain some type of advantage on their opponent.
