Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
LSU Tigers vs Florida Gators
The 6th ranked LSU Tigers will visit Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida, for an SEC showdown versus the Florida Gators on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST. The Tigers picked up a win last weekend over the Mississippi Rebels at home by a 45-16 score to where they would go up 28-6 at the half en route to a blowout victory while the Gators were able to get the 13-6 road win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in week five as their defense took center stage in allowing only 202 total yards to the Bulldogs as they picked up the huge conference win. The last time the teams met were on October 7, 2017 when the Tigers picked up the 17-16 road win to where they would not cover as 1.5 road favorites but the under was the play with the total being set at 42.5 points for the game.
LSU Tigers's Latest Performance :
LSU dominated the Ole Miss Rebels at home in week five as they collected 281 yards rushing with Joe Burrow having 96 yards on nine carries and a touchdown as the Tigers claim the 52nd ranked rushing attack in the nation with 192 yards rushing per game. The passing attack was led by Burrow who threw for 292 yards and three TD’s as they averaged 11.7 yards per pass play. Justin Jefferson led the receiving corps with 99 yards on seven catches along with two touchdowns. The defense for LSU allowed only 4.7 yards per catch for the Rebels as they collected 178 yards in the air while having 150 rushing yards on the day. In all, the Rebels were dominated in the trenches throughout the game by a physical LSU defensive front that allowed them to possess the ball for only 24:43 minutes.
Florida Gators 's Latest Performance :
Florida had 118 yards rushing in their road win over the Bulldogs with Lamical Perrine leading the attack with 55 yards on ten carries while Felipe Franks passed for 219 yards along with an interception as they averaged 7.5 per pass play. Josh Hammond led the receiving corps with 47 yards on three catches for an offense that converted five for 14 third down conversion while holding the ball for 33:47 minutes. The defense locked down the offense for the Bulldogs as Nick Fitzgerald threw for only 98 yards in the game along with racking up 32 yards on the ground. The rushing attack collected 104 yards on the ground against Florida’s rush defense that struggled coming into the game in allowing 173 yards per game as the Bulldogs converted two of twelve third down conversions total.
How LSU Tigers & Florida Gators Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
LSU is 3-2 ATS while the O/U is 3-2
Florida is 4-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
One can always expect a tough, hard hitting contest amongst these two teams as the Tigers will make the trip to Gainesville to face a Florida team that will be brimming with confidence after their huge win over the Bulldogs on the road last week. On the other hand, the Tigers are also bringing in tons of momentum as they destroyed the Rebels at home while dominating within the trenches versus their opponents all year. Also, they have confidence in playing at the Swamp as they picked up a slim victory last year; however, Florida will be looking for payback in this contest for this loss. In all, this is a must-see game as positioning in both the East and West divisions of the SEC is at stake.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: LSU Tigers -2.5
My reason for the pick :
While the Tigers will be physical at the point of attack during this game, the Gators will certainly match their intensity as they seek to remain on the heels of the Bulldogs in the SEC east. On the other hand, the Tigers look to stay alongside the Crimson Tide in the western division of the conference and will rise to the challenge in this matchup as well. Nonetheless, I will back the road team with the points as LSU has a duel threat quarterback in Burrow that has really shined thus far in the season while also possessing two legit running backs that can add to the rushing attack as well. as stated, the Gators have struggled stopping the run in 2018 despite them locking down the Bulldogs last week. And while the Bulldogs averaged 35 points per game, they were also ranked in the lower tier of the league in total offense. On the other hand, the Tigers are allowing their opponents only 15 points per game. In all, this will be a great game, yet, one that LSU will control the pace of throughout on their way to covering the spread.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 43.5
My reason for the prediction :
Again, I happen to feel that the Tigers will control the pace of this game from the beginning and will take out the running game for the Gators that is currently ranked 71st in the nation with 174 yards per outing. It will be important to note that the Gators are allowing only 14 points per game to their opponents thus far, so, one can really expect a battle in the trenches in this contest and one to where not many points will be score as both defenses will take center stage.
