Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Central Florida Knights vs Memphis Tigers

Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, will be the site of a Conference USA battle versus the 9th ranked Central Florida Knights and the Memphis Tigers on Saturday for a matchup beginning at 3:30 pm EST.  The Knights are coming off a 48-20 home win over the SMU Mustangs as they won their fifth straight game by racking up 541 yards of total offense while allowing only 320 to their week six opponent.  The Tigers atoned for their week five setback on the road at Tulane by whipping the UConn Huskies by a 55-14 score at home by taking a 41-14 lead at the half while cruising to victory for the remainder of the contest.  UCF has dominated this matchup in the last two meetings as they covered in both games.  In their last meeting on December 2, 2017, the Knights picked up the 62-55 home win as they covered as 6.5 home favorites.  The home team is 10-1 ATS in the last eleven games while the Knights are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis.

Central Florida Knights's Latest Performance :

The Knights cruised in their last victory over SMU as they racked up 256 yards on the ground with Adrian Killins Jr led with 113 yards and one touchdown for UCF while McKenzie Milton passed for 278 yards and two touchdown passes along with an interception in their sixth straight victory.  Tre Nixon and Dredrick Snelson combined for 12 receptions for 169 yards with a touchdown each for an offense that averaged 7.7 yards per catch and six yards per rush.  The 48th ranked defense in yards allowed with 356 yards per game came well under their average as the Mustangs were only allowed 320 yards in the game with 83 yards on the ground while Ben Hicks threw for only 153 yards total with one touchdown pass.  Central Florida has allowed three touchdowns or more in only one of their five games this year while the under has been the play in three of their last four road games.

Memphis Tigers's Latest Performance :

Memphis cruised to victory over the UConn Huskies last weekend as they were led by a rushing attack that averaged 9.4 yards per carry for a total of 378 yards total as Darrell Henderson (174 yds, 3 TD’s) and Patrick Taylor Jr. (161 yds, 3 TD’s) led the way in the victory.  Brady White threw for 239 yards and a score for a passing attack that was also stellar in averaging 13.5 yards per catch in the game as Sean Dykes had 62 yards receiving on three catches.  The defense for Memphis capitalized on four turnovers for the Huskies while allowing 112 yards rushing along with David Pindell throwing for 190 yards, TD, along with two picks in the loss for UConn.  Memphis has won three of their last four games while atoning for a 40-24 road loss at Tulane the week prior.  They will now face an undefeated UCF team that is also flying high in allowing only 17 points per game to their opponents this season.

How Central Florida Knights & Memphis Tigers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

UCF is 4-1 ATS while the OU is 2-3

Memphis is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 3-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Central Florida is directly on the heels of the Cincinnati Bears within their respective division of the AAC while Memphis is in fifth place within the western division and badly in need of a win in which to remain competitive alongside SMU, Tulane, and Navy who are all 1-1 and behind the top ranked squad in the Houston Cougars.  They certainly have a task in front of them as the Knights are not an offensive juggernaut, but, relies on its defense to put them in positions to gain great field position.  With that being said, this will be an intriguing matchup as it will be interesting to see if Memphis can make some headway in using their 8th ranked rushing attack to soften up the defense for UCF, which is allowing 182 yards per game, by the way.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Memphis Tigers +4.5

My reason for the pick :

Though both teams are averaging well over 40 points per game, I believe that the Tigers will attempt to slow this game down in utilizing its rushing attack as much as possible in which to give themselves a chance to win.  As stated, UCF is solid defensively, yet, their weak link is their rushing defense that is allowing 182 yards per game to their opponents.  Memphis is coming off a game to where they ran crazy on a UConn defense and will look to do the same this weekend.  In all, with the Tigers playing at home, look for them to keep this game close while possibly winning outright in what will be a trap game for the Knights.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under 78

My reason for the prediction :

The last game versus these two teams was a shootout, however, I will back the under in this contest as both Memphis and UCF are allowing teams to score a combined 21 points per game.  With that being the case, look for this to be more of a defensive matchup as UCF will certainly be focused on ensuring that they show up in the trenches to prevent giving any type of momentum to Memphis throughout this game.  Memphis, on the other hand, are also very familiar with the 9th and 19th ranked rushing and passing attacks for UCF and while look to utilize their 20th and 37th ranked rush/pass defense to also prevent the Knights from pushing them around in front of their home faithful.  The under has been the play in the Tigers last two games, overall.

Betting trends for Central Florida Knights:

    • Under is 4-0 in Knights last 4 games following an ATS win.
    • Under is 4-0 in Knights last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
    • Under is 4-0 in Knights last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

Betting trends for Memphis Tigers:

    • Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
    • Tigers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
    • Tigers are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October.
