Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Georgia Bulldogs vs LSU Tigers

A heavy weight SEC showdown versus the 2nd ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the 13th ranked LSU Tigers will take place on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm EST at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  It has been five years since these teams battled as they last met on September 28, 2013 as the Bulldogs picked up the 44-41 home win, yet the spread was a push in favor of Georgia while the over was the play with the total being set at 63 points for the game.  The Bulldogs are coming off a 41-13 home win over the Vanderbilt Commodores as they dominated in the second half in outscoring the road team 20-7 averaging 6.4 yards per rush for the game en route to the conference victory.  LSU fell to Florida on the road in an SEC showdown by a 27-19 score as the Tigers would make vital mistakes in the form of turnovers late in the game to seal their losing fate.  The road team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings amongst these squads, while the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings, overall.

Georgia Bulldogs's Latest Performance :

Georgia had few problems disposing of the Vanderbilt Commodores last weekend as Jake Fromm threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns while the rushing attack, which racked up 219 yards, receive a huge boost from Elijah Holyfield who chipped in 64 rushes along with a touchdown in the win.  Terry Goodwin led the receiving corps with 95 yards and a score in the victory as the passing game averaged 11 yards per catch.  Vanderbilt averaged 4,8 yards per rush in the game while throwing for 183 yards as Kyle Shurmur went 14 for 28 in the contest while the offense would not fare well in converting third downs in the game (3-12).  In all, UGA’s running game along with effective passing by Fromm helped them pull out yet another victory on their way to challenging a Tiger defense that 26th in rush defense in allowing 122 yards per game while giving up 222 yards in the air to their opponents on a weekly basis, good for 59th in the country.

LSU Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Tigers of LSU came into their matchup with Florida allowing 122 yards on the ground to their opponents, however, the Gators pounded them for 215 yards total as Lamical Perrine had 85 yards and two scores for Florida while Felipe Franks powered in 161 yards and a score in the win.  The offense for LSU did, however, rush for 180 yards on the ground with Nick Brossette having 95 yards and two TD’s, however, the Tigers committed three huge turnovers including two interceptions by Joe Burrow who ended with 192 yards on 19 of 34 passing attempts.  LSU also racked up 85 yards in penalties for the game while going four of 17 on third downs for the day.  Florida was able to pick up the victory despite having 115 yards in penalties and despite going four for 13 on third downs.  LSU will now face a UGA team that allows only 113 yards on the ground to their opponents.

How Georgia Bulldogs & LSU Tigers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Georgia is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 2-4

LSU is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 4-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be the game of the week as we will see exactly what Georgia is made of as they travel to Tiger Stadium for an all-important matchup with LSU.  The home team will certainly be looking to get back on track after their SEC loss the week prior while Georgia aims to keep rolling after a string of successful games to where their closes contest was at Missouri as they picked up a 43-29 road win.  Look for both teams to battle in the trenches as they will both seek to get their running games going early and often, however, each defense is ranked in the top 30 in stopping the run, thus meaning the Burrow and Fromm will need to show and prove and some point.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: LSU Tigers +7.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Tigers in this matchup as they will not only find it disrespectful to be such huge home dogs for this matchup, but, they will also be angry concerning their last loss versus the Gators to where they were manhandled in the trenches by Florida throughout the game.  Look for Burrow to take his chances at various points of the game versus a pass defense for UGA that is allowing only 170 points for the year. In all, the Tigers will keep this game close, however, the Bulldogs are a solid team and will sneak out a slim victory in the end.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under 50.5

My reason for the prediction :

With both teams looking to control this game through their rushing attacks, look for the clock to tick in the meantime as the under will be the strong play.  Again, I happen to think that not many points will be scored in this contest as the strength of both offenses are in their ability to run the ball; Nonetheless, with both defenses more than capable of preventing opponents from gashing them on the ground, the total will certainly stay under the 50.5 points set.
