Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Duke Blue Devils vs Georgia Tech Yellowjackets

The Duke Blue Devils will travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, for an ACC showdown versus the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets on Saturday afternoon at 12:20 pm EST.  In the last meetings amongst these two teams, the Blue Devils picked up the 43-20 home win as they also covered as 6.5 home underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 49 points for the game.  In their last outing, the Yellowjackets were 66-31 winners over the Louisville Cardinals as they racked up over 500 yards on the ground in an easy victory.  The Blue Devils, however, fell to the Virginia Tech Hokies at home by a 31-14 score as they could only muster 327 yards total in the loss while allowing Ryan Willis to throw for 332 yards along with three touchdowns in the loss.  The Blue Devils are 4-0 ATS in the last four games versus the Yellowjackets while the underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last four games amongst these teams.  Finally, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Atlanta.

Duke Blue Devils's Latest Performance :

After a Daniel Jones touchdown pass to Noah Gray to put the Blue Devils up 7-3 in their last outing versus the Hokies, Duke slept-walked on offense for the remainder of the game as they could only muster a one yard Deon Jackson run in the final quarter to make the Hokie lead 24-14 before Ryan Willis threw his third touchdown pass of the night to Phil Patterson to seal the victory for Virginia Tech.  And while the Duke defense allowed only 81 yards rushing to the Hokies, they 67th ranked pass defense allowed 332 yards as Willis went 17 of 27 for 332 yards as the passing game averaged 11.9 yards per catch.  Jones was average for the night under center as he passed for only 226 yards, a TD, along with an interception while Chris Taylor had 58 yards on five catches.  Duke’s rushing game, which came into the matchup averaging 190 yards on the ground, could only muster 71 yards as Brittan Brown had 35 yards to lead the attack.  Their running troubles may continue for this matchup as center Zack Harmon is uncertain to play with a lower body injury that has kept him out for the past two games while safety Jordan Hayes and defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord are both questionable with undisclosed injuries.

Georgia Tech Yellowjackets's Latest Performance :

Georgia Tech won their second straight game while scoring 60 points in each game during this time as they ran over the Cardinals on the road as Tobias Oliver and Tyquan Marshall combined for 278 yards along with four touchdowns in the game for an offense that averaged 8.3 yards per carry.  They also converted 86% of their third down conversions as the Louisville defense could find no answers to Paul Johnson’s triple option attack.  Georgia Tech allowed 113 yards on the ground to the cardinals, however, while Juwan Pass threw for 370 yards along with two touchdowns, however, Louisville did not help themselves in committing three turnovers in the loss.  So, after going 1-3 to begin the season, the Yellowjackets are brimming with confidence as they have won their last two games to get back to .500 on the season and will be looking to exploit the Blue Devils who are ranked 29th in the country in giving up only 123 yards per outing to their opponents this year while only allowing 18 points per game as well.

How Duke Blue Devils & Georgia Tech Yellowjackets Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Duke is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 3-2

Georgian Tech is 2-4 ATS while the OU is 4-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Duke has been solid in defending the run this year; However, the Georgia Tech offense is not your ordinary rushing attack.  The Yellowjackets’ triple option attack requires discipline and an enormous amount of physicality as Marshall and Oliver are very dangerous to contain once the offense gets rolling.  Do not look for them to pass much in this outing, particularly if they are able to gain success as they did versus Louisville last week.  In fact, with pieces within their defensive line and secondary uncertain to suit up, look for a rewind of the Louisville game as the Yellowjackets may indeed roll to their third straight victory.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Georgia Tech Yellowjackets -3

My reason for the pick :

With the rushing attack performing the way it has the past couple outings, I will certainly ride Georgia Tech in covering the spread in outstanding fashion on Saturday.  Duke, on the other hand, has won some huge games on the road versus Baylor and Northwestern, however, as stated, this Georgia Tech team is indeed a different animal, altogether.  With that being said, look for this to be much tighter than their last two outings as Duke will perform much better as it relates to their rush defense, nonetheless, the triple option will prevail once again as the home team will score pivotal points late in the game to seal the victory.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 55

My reason for the prediction :

Of course, Duke has allowed twenty points or fewer in three of their five games this season and will certainly look to continue this trend as they have consistently done well in locking down the opponents rushing game; However, the Yellowjackets will look to pound the ball early and often in which to find the weak spots within their defense.  On the other hand, the Jackets are allowing 28 points per game to their opponents this year, thus making me feel as though the strongest play in this game will be the over.  In all, look for both teams to get numerous opportunities to score in this contest in what will likely be a back and forth matchup to where not much defense will be played due to both offenses clicking on all cylinders.
