Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Texas A&M Aggies vs South Carolina Gamecocks

The 22nd ranked Texas A&M Aggies will travel to Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday afternoon to battle the South Carolina Gamecocks for a 3:30 pm EST start time.  The last time these teams met was on September 30, 2017 as the Aggies picked up the 24-17 home win as the total was a push (-7) while the under was the play with the total being set at 50.5 points for the game.  The Gamecocks squeaked out a slim victory in their last outing versus the Missouri Tigers as Parker White nailed a 33-yard field goal which gave the home team a one-point lead with :02 seconds remaining en route to a 37-35 much-needed victory.  The Aggies were 20-14 home winners in overtime over previously undefeated and then 20th ranked Kentucky Wildcats last weekend as Trayeon Williams had the game winning rushing touchdown as he scampered for ten yards in the fourth quarter to give the home team the lead in OT for their second straight win.  the underdog is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings amongst these teams.

Texas A&M Aggies's Latest Performance :

The Texas A&M Aggies rode Trayveon Williams to victory as he collected 138 yards on the ground with a touchdown in their win over Kentucky last weekend while Kellen Mond chipped in 226 yards and two touchdown passes along with a pick.  Jace Sternberner had another great performance with 95 yards and a score on five catches.  The Aggies defense allowed only 2.3 yards on the ground to the Wildcats as Benny Snell Jr only having 60 yards on the day on 13 rushes while the passing game averaged only 5.4 yards per catch as the Aggies 21st ranked defense in yards allowed per game with 323 yards total was very domain and will look to perform in much the same manner versus a USC offense that, despite their inconsistency at the QB position, continues to average 30 points per game.

South Carolina Gamecocks's Latest Performance :

The Gamecocks battled the Aggies for four quarters and would get the slim victory after a last second field goal that allowed them to get back into the win column after losing two of three games.  Michael Scarnecchia had a decent day while filling in for an injured Jake Bentley in throwing for 249 yards along with three touchdown passes while Deebo Samuel help his efforts immensely with 88 yards on four catches and a touchdown pass in the win.  The rushing attack put up 128 yards with Rico Dowdle powering in 53 yards on 21 yards while they Gamecocks averaged only 2.7 yards per game.  The Gamecocks 105th ranked rush defense fell flat once again in allowing a total of 286 yards with Damarea Crockett (20 rushes, 154 yards, TD) and Larry Roundtree III (12 rushes, 90 yards, 2 TD’s) leading the way for the Tigers.  Nonetheless, the 12th ranked pass defense allowed only 204 yards to Drew Lock and the passing game as he also threw two interceptions.  Jake Bentley will be returning for this matchup; however, things will not get any easier for a shaky offense for the Gamecocks as the Aggies are allowing only 20 points per game.

How Texas A&M Aggies & South Carolina Gamecocks Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Texas A&M is 5-1 ATS while the OU is 3-3

South Carolina is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 3-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

USC has won two of their three home games at Williams Brice this year and simply cannot afford to have another slip up as they are now in fourth place within the SEC east and with Kentucky’s loss to the Aggies last weekend, they can possibly increase their positioning altogether.  The problem is that the Aggies are playing great defense at this time and will certainly want to remain competitive with LSU and Alabama in the western division of the SEC.  In all, look for this to be a competitive contest amongst two teams looking to remain relevant.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Texas A&M Aggies -2

My reason for the pick :

While the Gamecocks pulled out a last second win in preforming valiantly against the Missouri Tigers, they will indeed fall to the Aggies in this contest due to their inability to consistently move the chains.  In other words, they will have all types of difficulties attempting to figure out this stout defensive front for the Aggies that are ranked 4th in the country in stopping the run, something that USC needs to take some pressure of their QB.  Nonetheless, look for the home team to struggle once again as Texas A&M will cover the spread while winning convincingly in a game that could propel them to 2nd place if LSU were to lose to the Bulldogs at home.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 52.5

My reason for the prediction :

There is no doubt in my mind that the Aggies will possess the bulk of the momentum going into this matchup.  With that being said, they will certainly want to establish themselves on the ground as the Gamecocks are ranked 105th in the league in rush defense while allowing Williams and Mond to control the pace of the game.  Of course, both teams will put points on the board, however, this game will stay well below 50 points as both defenses will play solidly.  The fact is that A&M will take advantage of their offensive opportunities much more than the Gamecocks.
