Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Boise State Broncos vs Nevada Wolfpack

The Boise State Broncos will travel to Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada, to battle the Nevada Wolfpack on Saturday night at 10:30 pm EST.  They took a huge step back last week in losing by a 19-13 score at home versus the Aztecs of San Diego State last weekend as they would not only give up 154 yards rushing to the visitors, but, fall out of the top 25 as a result of the loss.  The Wolfpack were 21-3 losers versus Fresno State in week five as they were held scoreless in the second half while outgaining the Bulldogs in yardage yet suffered due to three huge turnovers during the game as they lost their second game in three outings.  The last time the teams met was on November 4, 2017 as the Broncos picked up the 41-14 home win as they covered as 20-point home favorites while the under was the play with the total being 63 for the game.

Boise State Broncos's Latest Performance :

The Broncos were stunned at home versus the San Diego State Aztecs this past Saturday as the Aztecs jumped out on top at the half with a 13-6 lead on the strength of two field goals by John Barron II along with a touchdown by Chase Jasmin while the Broncos scored via an Alexander Mattison on yard run in the first quarter.  The Aztecs would go up 19-7 early in the fourth quarter with a 72-yard burst from Jordan Byrd while Mattison chipped in another touchdown down run to tighten the lead to 19-13 as the PAT failed.  Mattison ended the game with 66 yards on 25 carries while Brett Rypien had only 170 yards passing along with two picks in the game for a BSU offense that entered the game ranked 11th in the country in passing yards per game with 352 per.

Nevada Wolfpack's Latest Performance :

Nevada’s offense was dismal in their last outing versus Fresno State as they rushed for 132 yards while collecting 195 yards in the air thanks to Christan Solano, yet, he threw three picks in the contest for an offense that only converted four of 18 third downs.  Solano also led the rushing attack with 71 yards on 23 rushes while Kaleb Fossum paced the receiving corps with 97 yards on 12 catches in their second loss in three outings.  The defense for the Wolfpack did its job in only allowing the Bulldogs to convert only three of 13 third down attempts while limiting their rushing attack to only 30 yards for the game; However, QB Marcus McMaryion threw for 241 yards along with two touchdown passes which proved to be the difference in the game as the Wolfpack evened their record at .500 for the season.

How Boise State Broncos & Nevada Wolfpack Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Boise State is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 3-2

Nevada is 2-4 ATS while the OU is 3-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

In all, Boise State played horrible in their last outing and will certainly look to play much better versus a Nevada team that has struggled offensively at time during the season, yet, averages 32 points per game.  The Wolfpack passing game has been the tip of the spear for Nevada as they are ranked 36th in the country in putting up 269 yards per game while the Broncos’ pass defense allows only 179, good for 29th in the nation.  On the other hand, this may be the perfect bounce back game for the Broncos as they are averaging 37 points per game while the Wolfpack allows 32 points to their opponents per outing while giving up 256 yards in passing.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Boise State Broncos -17

My reason for the pick :

As stated, this will be a perfect bounce back game for the Broncos who desperately need a win in which to regain their confidence.  Rypien will also need to take advantage of Nevada’s willingness to give up yards in the passing game in this contest while the Broncos’ rushing attack will also look to establish its running game that averages a tad over 150 yards per game.  In all, look for Boise State to fly high over an inconsistent Nevada team while also barely covering the 17 points, nonetheless, picking up the conference victory.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 60.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will only back the under in this contest simply because I happen to believe that Nevada will indeed shut down the offense for the Wolfpack once again as they will continue to be inconsistent.  And while the Broncos had been a bit shaky lately as it relates to their offense, look for them to perform much better in this matchup as it will definitely add to their confidence level moving forward.  In all, the under is the strong play in this outing as the Broncos will reach their average for points scored while cruising the rest of the way.
