Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado State vs Boise State Broncos

The Colorado State Rams will make a visit to Albertson’s Stadium in Boise, Idaho, for a Mountain West showdown with the Boise state Broncos on Friday night at 9 pm EST.  The last time these two teams met was on November 11, 2017 as the Broncos took the 59-52 road win while also covering as 6.5-point favorites in the matchup.  In their last outings, both teams picked up huge wins as the Rams outlasted the New Mexico Lobos by a 20-18 score at home while the Broncos were victorious over the Nevada Wolfpack on the road by a 31-27 score.  The road team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings amongst these squads while the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five games, overall.  The Rams are 1-4 ATS in the last five games versus the Broncos.

Colorado State 's Latest Performance :

After a passing touchdown along with a score on the ground by KJ Carta-Samuels for the Rams to put the home team up 14-3 at the half of their contest last Saturday, the Lobos outworked the Rams 15-6 in the second half as they rallied to take the 18-17 lead early in the final quarter.  Yet, they would not get the win as Wyatt Bryan kicked a 26 yard field goal for the home team as they picked up a hard fought victory over a confident Lobos squad, their second straight win after losing two straight prior.  Carta-Samuels led the way with 311 yards and a touchdown pass while Preston Williams and Olabisi Johnson combined for 14 catches for 174 yards along with one TD in the win.  The rushing attack, which averaged only 2.6 yards per carry, racked up 116 yards for the game with Izzy Matthews having 92 yards on 26 rushes in the victory.  The defense held the Lobos to only three of eleven conversions on third downs while allowing them to possess the ball for only 23 minutes for the game.  Most importantly, the Rams defense only allowed 18 points to the Lobos on this day, 17 points lower than their average per game.  They will certainly need a similar effort (or better) versus a Broncos team that puts up 36 points per game on the season.

Boise State Broncos's Latest Performance :

After a 17 all tie at the end of the first half, the Broncos edged the Wolfpack on the road last Saturday thanks to two touchdown passes by Brett Rypien that allowed the Broncos to get back into the win column.  For the day, Rypien had 299 yards along with two touchdown passes, yet, threw three interceptions in the contest.  And while the rushing game, led by John Hightower with 90 yards and a score, averaged 5.2 yards per carry, the Broncos would also fumble the ball in this game while racking up 108 yards in penalties.  The defense only gave up 82 yards on the ground, however, Ty Gangi had 304 yards along with two touchdown passes for the Wolfpack in the game.  Nonetheless, the Broncos defense showed up when it counted as they collected three turnovers along with a pick six off Gangi early in the second quarter than put the Broncos up 14-10.

How Colorado State & Boise State Broncos Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Colorado State is 3-4 ATS while the OU is 2-5

Boise State is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 3-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Broncos and Rams are currently in second and third place within the Mountain West East division with a division record of 2-1.  With that being said, this will certainly be an important matchup for both teams.  As stated, the last matchup amongst these two teams was a high scoring affair which saw the Rams play step for step with the Broncos throughout the game.  So, with so much on the line, expect this to be yet another interesting game to where both teams will bring the focus along with intensity on the offensive end in which to compete throughout the duration.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Broncos State Broncos

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Broncos at home in this matchup as the Rams have simply been shaky on the road this season.  Despite their last win over the Spartans of San Jose State on the road, they almost coughed up a loss despite being in control throughout the first half by allowing 30 points in the third quarter to which they rallied for a win.  And while the Broncos suffered a 19-13 loss to the San Diego State Aztecs in their last home game, look for them to atone for their performance in this game while taking the momentum from their win over Nevada in which to pull out a victory on Friday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this contest despite the over being the case in their last matchup.  The fact is that while the Broncos are averaging 36 points per game for the season, the under has been the play in three of their last four games while the Rams have played to the under in four of their last five games, overall.  With that being said, expect some scores int his matchup, however, to expect these teams to score much like the matchup on last year will certainly be asking a bit much.  Besides, the Broncos defense is ranked in the top 30 in stopping the pass/rush and while the Rams defense can indeed give up some yards, they will look to build from their last defensive performance in attempting to lock down a potentially potent offense in Boise State.

Betting trends for Colorado State :

    • Over is 4-0 in Rams last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
    • Under is 7-0 in Rams last 7 Friday games.
    • Rams are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Friday games.

Betting trends for Boise State Broncos:

    • Broncos are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
    • Under is 8-1 in Broncos last 9 games in October.
    • Under is 6-1 in Broncos last 7 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
