Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado Buffaloes vs Washington Huskies

The 25th ranked Colorado Buffaloes will travel to Huskie Stadium in Seattle, Washington, to battle the 14th ranked Washington Huskies on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm EST for a Pac 12 showdown.  The Huskies are coming off a 30-27 road loss to the Oregon Ducks last weekend as the Ducks sealed the deal in overtime after the Huskies kicked a field goal to make the score 27-24 when CJ Verdell scrambled for a six-yard touchdown run that ultimately gave Oregon the OT win.  The Colorado Buffaloes also took the road loss to the USC Trojans by a 31-20 score as QB JT Daniels shined for the Trojans in throwing for 272 yards along with three touchdown passes.  The last time these two teams met was on September 23, 2017 as the Huskies picked up the 37-10 road win as they also covered as 11-point favorites.  Furthermore, the Buffaloes are 0-7 ATS in the last seven meetings, while the favorite is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings, overall.

Colorado Buffaloes's Latest Performance :

The Buffaloes could not take advantage of three turnovers versus USC as they were not able to overcome a 28-7 lead late in the third quarter and would end up taking the loss last weekend which happened to be not only their first loss of the year, but, their first Pac 12 defeat as well.  The loss marked the first time Colorado allowed 30 or more points this season, yet they continue to be 2-1 ATS in their last three games.  Steven Montez threw for 170 yards, however, threw a huge pick six to the Trojans’ Ajene Harris to put the home team up 21 points late in the third quarter.  The rushing attack was pedestrian as well in collecting 95 yards with Laviska Shenault Jr having 46 yards on two rushes along with a TD.  Shenault Jr also had 72 yards on nine catches for the Buffaloes who only obtained 265 yards total for the game.

Washington Huskies's Latest Performance :

The Huskies halted a five-game winning streak in their last lost versus Oregon while dropping to 3-1 in the Pac 12 north division as they allowed the Oregon rushing attack to run wild all game long in collecting 177 yards for the game while the defense also allowed them to convert 50% on third downs (9 of 18).  Washington outgained the Ducks in total yardage for the game (437 to 379) while they also put up 194 yards on the ground with Myles Gaskins having 69 yards on 15 carries.  Jake Browning threw for 243 yards along with a TD and an interception in the contest as the receiving corps for Washington averaged 9.7 yards per catch.  The Huskies gave up 30 points for the first time this season while the team is 1-3 ATS in their last four games.

How Colorado Buffaloes & Washington Huskies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Colorado is 4-2 ATS while the OU is 1-5

Washington is 2-5 ATS while the OU is 1-6

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

After two lackluster performances, both the Buffaloes and the Huskies will be looking to get back on the winning track in this matchup.  As stated, the Huskies have dominated this series in recent matchups, however, Colorado is a much better team this year, despite being snake-bit by a surprisingly good Trojans squad last weekend.  With that being the case, Oregon really exposed a shaky offense for the Huskies in their last outing as Browning was pressured for most of the game and would make numerous mistakes throughout.  Expect the Buffs and their 30th ranked defense in points allowed to bring the pressure in this matchup in which to make this game interesting.  Also, with Shenault Jr questionable with a toe injury for this game, the Huskies will indeed step up on defense as its 11th ranked unit in points scored with 16 per game will certainly pressure Montez in hopes that he loses his cool as he did at certain points versus USC.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Washington Huskies -15.5

My reason for the pick :

While Washington has issues on offenses that were exposed last week as in their inability to effectively pick up the blitz, I will back them to cover the spread in this game versus a Colorado team that may be without a critical piece on the offensive end in Shenault Jr.  Besides, the Huskies have much to prove in that they have allowed 27 points per game to their opponents in their last two contests which is unacceptable for a team that ranks in the top 15 in every major defensive category expect for rush defense, which allows 137 yards, good for 44th in the country.  Montez will find difficulties exploiting Washington’s pass defense this weekend while its 53rd ranked rushing attack will have to find some openings versus the Huskies who are allowing 137 yards per game to their opponents.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 51.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this matchup as it has not only been the play in the last three games for the Buffs, but, has also been the result in three of the last four games for the Huskies.  Combine this with the fact that the under has been the play in the last two meetings amongst these teams while neither team will want to lose their second straight division game, expect both defenses to control the trenches in making this game a low scoring affair to where Browning and Montez will have to make plays at critical points in the game to allow their squad a chance to win.

Betting trends for Colorado Buffaloes:

    • Under is 4-0 in Buffaloes last 4 conference games.
    • Under is 4-0 in Buffaloes last 4 road games.
    • Under is 6-1 in Buffaloes last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Betting trends for Washington Huskies:

    • Under is 4-0 in Huskies last 4 games following an ATS loss.
    • Under is 5-0 in Huskies last 5 games on fieldturf.
    • Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
