Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Wyoming Cowboys vs Colorado State Rams
The Cowboys of Wyoming will visit Canvas Field in Fort Collins, Colorado, to battle the Colorado State Rams on Friday night beginning at 10 pm EST. The cowboys fought valiantly at home versus the high-octane offense of Utah State, yet suffered the 24-16 loss as they turned the ball over twice at pivotal moments in the game. The Rams fell on the road to the Boise state Broncos by a 56-28 score as Colorado State outgained the Broncos in total yards, yet, could not overcome three costly turnovers which proved to be the clincher. These two teams last met on November 4, 2017 as the Cowboys picked up a 16-13 home win to there they covered as four points home underdogs. The underdog has won against the spread in four of the last five games amongst these teams while the road team is also 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, overall.
Wyoming Cowboys's Latest Performance :
The Wyoming Cowboys have had a horrible season as they came into the season while a highly touted defensive unit that allowed less than 20 points to their opponents in the prior year. However, ushering in new redshirt freshman QB Tyler Vander Waal into the offense that was already decimated by graduation inexperience, has proved to be their undoing in 2018. They began the season at 2-2, however, after losing their last four games they are needing a win. The problem is that they have won only one of their three road games this year as they were outscored by a 91-58 in those contests with their last road loss being a 27-3 loss at Fresno State on October 13th. Nonetheless, they continue to falter as they followed up their awful showing at Fresno State with a 24-16 home loss to the Aggies of Utah State which came into the game with one of the most potent offenses in the country. The Cowboys held their offense, however, to 194 yards as the home team outgained them in total yards by almost 150 yards. Vander Waal and QB Tom Chambers combined for only 100 yards in the passing game while the rushing attack was their saving grace in racking up 231 yards for the day. The Cowboys are ranked 129th in the country in scoring with 16 points per game while their defense has taken a severe step backwards in allowing 26 points per outing this year. With that being said, they hope to get back on track versus a Rams team that has struggled this year yet has picked up some wins lately as well as looking to extend their streak.
Colorado State Rams 's Latest Performance :
The Colorado State Rams, after beginning the season in disastrous fashion in going 1-4, have managed to win two of their last three games while also going 2-1 ATS during this time. They would, however, bow out to the Boise State Broncos in their last outing as they were unable to hang around in the first half as the Broncos put up 35 points compared to only seven for the Rams, which scored on a KJ Carta-Samuels touchdown pass to Preston Williams as the first half winded down. They would score while also allowing 21 points in the final half en route to their first loss in a month as they outgained Boise State 489-472 in total yards as the rushing attack averaged 4.6 yards per carry as Izzy Matthews was solid on the ground once again in getting 109 yards on 12 carries along with a TD. Carta-Samuels threw for 238 yards, two touchdowns, along with two interception in the loss while Williams had 154 yards on nine catches with a TD. Due to their early season start, they may not be able to make any noise within the division as Boise State along with Utah State is ranked above them in the division standings, however, they have a date with the Aggies later in the year at home along with two remaining home games with Nevada and Air Force on the road to somehow pick up some much needed wins to become bowl eligible.
How Wyoming Cowboys & Colorado State Rams Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Wyoming is 2-6 ATS while the OU is 2-5-1
Colorado State is 3-5 ATS while the OU is 3-5
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
As stated, Wyoming has not played well on the road this year and the Rams will certainly look to take advantage of this as they have played much closer and competitive games at home than they have on the road in 2018. With that being the case, their defense is horrible in allowing 38 points per game for the season while Wyoming’s offense, as we know, has struggled to score either through the pass or run this year, thus making this a potential under game. I continue to have faith in the defensive unit for the Cowboys, however, one cannot expect a defense to log so many minutes on the field without getting a bit burnt out by their offenses lack of production.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Colorado State Rams +1.5
My reason for the pick :
As long as the Cowboys offense continue to look atrocious in every conceivable way, I will back the home team and the points as they have a serviceable QB that can indeed by very dangerous in the rushing and/or passing attack. Also, Williams and Matthews are a talented corps in which Carta Samuels will not be able to utilize in the near future as he was benched for Chambers in their last outing. In all, look for the Rams to come out with a slim victory, nonetheless, thus extending their current winning streak at home where they have won two of their last three overall.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 48
My reason for the prediction :
This matchup will certainly be a classic under game as Wyoming, as stated, has struggled this year due to inexperience. On the other hand, the Rams have been inconsistent as well, yet have found ways to win ball games lately. The problem that they will run into an active defensive unit for the Cowboys that only held Utah State to only 194 total yards along with 24 points in their last outing. Do not expect too many points to be score in this matchup as both defenses will indeed take center stage in a competitive and low scoring matchup.
