Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Georgia Bulldogs vs Florida Gators

The 11th ranked Georgia Bulldogs will travel to EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, for their annual get together with the 6th ranked Florida Gators on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST.  The last time these two teams met was on October 28, 2017 as the Gators suffered the 42-7 loss as the Bulldogs covered as 12.5-point favorites.  The under was the play in four of the last five games while the Gators are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, overall.  In their last outing, the Bulldogs were destroyed on the ground by LSU as they suffered the 36-16 road loss at Death Valley to where they allowed 275 yards on the ground on their way to their first loss of the season.  The Gators won their fifth straight game as they picked up the 37-27 road win over the Vanderbilt Commodores last Saturday as they outscored the Commodores 28-6 in the second half en route to the win.

Georgia Bulldogs's Latest Performance :

The Bulldogs were manhandled by the Tigers in their last outing versus LSU by obtaining only 303 total yards for the game while surrendering four turnovers in the matchup, overall.  Jake Fromm threw for two interceptions on the day while ending with 209 yards while the rushing attack was less effective as well in picking up only 113 yards for the game with DeAndre Swift (72 yards, 12 carries) and Elijah Holyfield (56 yards, TD) leading the way in the loss.  Riley Ridley led the receivers with three catches for 75 yards along with a touchdown pass for UGA.  Their defense was pounded for 275 yards in the game yet allowing the Tigers to convert only six for 19 third down attempts.  UGA should expect more of the same from Florida who averages a tad under 200 rush yards a game on Saturday while Franks and the passing attack will also certainly test Georgia’s 15th ranked pass defense.

Florida Gators 's Latest Performance :

The Gators have gained much confidence in the past few weeks.  And with Georgia’s loss to the Tigers last weekend catapulting them to the number one slot within the SEC East as well as to their current 6th place ranking within the top 25, they are certainly on a high.  It would be fitting that they are playing the Bulldogs this weekend in which to decide who is truly the team to beat in the east.  The Bulldogs stomped the Gators in last year’s matchup, however, Florida has primed themselves for this matchup in allowing just 16 points per game in their last five outings, overall.

The Gators tied their record for the most points allowed this season as Vandy put up 27 points on them last Saturday as the defense allowed Kyle Shurmur to throw for 229 yards, two TD’s and an interception in the win while holding the rushing attack to 107 yards for the contest.  Felipe Franks came through again for the Florida offense in throwing for 284 yards, two TD’s, along with an interception while Lamichael Perrine caught four passes for 93 yards while rushing for 121 yards along with a touchdown in the game.  Jordan Scarlett was also effective on the ground in picking up 113 yards and a score.  The Gators will certainly need to clamp down defensively in their upcoming matchup as the Bulldogs are averaging 39 points per game in 2018.

How Georgia Bulldogs & Florida Gators Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Florida is 6-1 ATS while the OU is 4-3

Georgia is 3-4 ATS while the OU is 3-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be one of the most entertaining and interesting games for the weekend as the Bulldogs will be losing to get back on track while the Gators will look to continue their winning streak versus a team that they sidestepped to take over the top spot within the eastern division of the SEC.  In fact, Georgia is also in a great place as they can certainly be able to not only retake the top spot in the division with a win, but, can also increase their ranking with a victory over 6th ranked Florida as they certainly benefited from the Bulldog’s  loss last weekend.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Georgia Bulldogs -7

My reason for the pick :

Despite Swift being questionable for this matchup, I will back the Bulldogs who will atone for their very poor outing versus the Tigers last weekend to get the win while covering the spread as well.  And while Florida will fight hard to pull out a victory, Georgia will pull out all the stops to get a win in this contest as they understand that despite their lackluster performance last weekend, they can still be in a great spot, should they take care of business in this matchup, to retake the top spot in the Eastern division of the SEC.  In all, look for Georgia to show and prove versus a defensive minded Florida team that is on a high.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 51.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in that I happen to believe that both defenses will be looking to exert itself within the trenches against two offenses that are averaging well over 30 points per game.  Of course, with the types of offensive weapons both teams possess, a healthy amount of confidence and focus will be needed on the defensive end.  UGA has scored 38 points or more in all but one of their games this year while the Gators have been up and down for quite some time; Yet, expect both defenses to take center stage in this matchup as they will naturalize their opponents in which to put themselves in a position to where they can pull out the victory late.

    • Over is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
