Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Kentucky Wildcats vs Missouri Tigers
The 14th ranked Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri, for an SEC showdown versus the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm EST. The last time these teams met was on October 7, 2017 as the Wildcats picked up the 40-34 home win as the Tigers covered as 8.5-point road underdogs. In their last outing, the Wildcats picked up the 14-7 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores as Benny Snell Jr came through for his team with the score being tied at seven all to score on a seven-yard run with 8 minutes remaining in the fourth to seal the victory. The Tigers also got back on the winning track versus the Memphis Tigers in getting the 65-33 home win to half a three-game skid. Missouri has won the last four games SU while the under has been the result in three of the last four games including the last two games in Columbia.
Kentucky Wildcats's Latest Performance :
Kentucky is also on a high after atoning for a 20-14 road setback to the Aggies of Texas A&M on October 13th. And while they were only able to get the 14-7 win on the road over Vandy last weekend, Benny Snell JR came throughout for his team in scoring the winning touchdown to seal the victory as the Wildcats racked up 280 yards on the ground for the night with Snell leading the way with 169 yards on the day on 32 carries. Terry Wilson threw a touchdown pass in the contest, however, the offense turned the ball over twice. The defense for Kentucky also collected two turnovers yet held the Commodores to only 68 yards rushing. It will be interesting to see how the 16th ranked rushing attack with Snell and company that averages 253 yards per game will fare versus a Missouri rush defense that allows only 113 yards per outing to their opponents, good for 18th in the country.
Missouri Tigers 's Latest Performance :
The Missouri Tigers must have been only so happy to end their three-game losing streak last Saturday as their offense put up 65 points. Prior to this, they were only averaging 25 points during their skid. And while they continue to remain winless in the SEC East, the win can certainly provide a much-needed lift to a team that was looking as if they called in the season after starting 3-0 to begin the year. They regained their dominance at home versus the Memphis Tigers as Drew Lock came out of his funk in throwing for 350 yards along with four TD’s while A. Okwuegbunam (6 catches, 159 yards, 3 TD’s) along with Jalen Knox (5 catches, 104 yards, TD) leading the way for the receiving corps. The rushing attack racked up 273 yards for the day with Larry Roundtree III having 118 yards along with three TD’s as Missouri put in 646 total yards on Memphis. The defense collected two turnovers for the game yet allowed 200 yards rushing to Memphis in the contest.
How Kentucky Wildcats & Missouri Tigers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Kentucky is 3-4 ATS while the OU is 2-5
Missouri is 4-3 ATS while the OU is 5-1
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
It is a guarantee that with the Gators and Bulldogs squaring off this weekend, one of them will indeed fall. With that being the case, the Wildcats are in a great position to pick up a victory over Missouri to ensure that they occupy the second place slot if the Gators should happen to lose. With that being the case, look for them to really get Snell JR going early versus a tough Missouri defensive front that is stingy in the run. Also, expect the Tigers to utilize Lock and his playmakers as they hope that they will continue their stellar performance from last week.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Kentucky Wildcats +2.5
My reason for the pick :
While the running game has been their bread and butter throughout the year, I feel as if the Wildcats can certainly have some success if they were to test a shaky pass defense for the Tigers in this matchup. Of course, Wilson has not been the most accurate passer this year for Kentucky, however, if they were to somehow get Snell Jr more involved in the passing game, I believe that they will keep this game close while pulling off a great road victory over a potent offensive squad. Nonetheless, Lock has been up and down all season and will get some pressure from that defensive front for Kentucky all game long. I simply do not trust him under pressure at all which is why I will back the Wildcats on the road to cover and get a win due to their resilience on both sides of the ball.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 45.5
My reason for the prediction :
This will be an under game as the Wildcats will play very well against an inconsistent offensive unit for the Tigers. And while the Wildcats are not known to score many points either, expect there will not be many points scored. Instead, Kentucky will score just enough to allow their defense to seal the deal on their opponent. With that being the case, look for the total to stay well below the total as this contest will be a defensive minded struggle for both offenses looking to continue their prior play.
