Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

TCU Horned Frogs vs Kansas Jayhawks

The slumping TCU Horned Frogs will take to the road for a Big 12 battle versus the Kansas Jayhawks at David Booth Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday at 3 pm EST.  The Horned Frogs are coming off a 52-27 home drubbing by the Oklahoma Sooners in their last matchup as they allowed four Touchdowns to Kyle Murray while OU’s rushing attack pounded the TCU defense for 329 yards total for the game as the Horned Frogs lost their second straight and fourth in five outings.  The Jayhawks were also pounced on the road versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders by a 48-16 score as their offense only mustered 308 total yards for the game while the home team put up 553 with the passing attack having 440 yards total for a nine yard per catch average.  The last time these teams met was on October 21, 2017 as the Horned Frogs picked up the 43-0 road win as they covered as 37.5 road favorites.  However, TCU is 1-5 ATS in their last six games in Lawrence while the under is 5-1 in the last six games amongst these teams.

TCU Horned Frogs's Latest Performance :

Kansas, as stated, is struggling just as much as TCU as they have lost four straight games to where their opponents averaged 42 points per game.  Their offense, currently ranked 87th in the nation in points scored with 26 points per outing, averaged 18 points during this time.  Also, the Jayhawks are 1-3 ATS during their losing streak as they may not win another game this season with Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, along with the Longhorns on their schedule to end the 2018 campaign.  In their last outing, they were blasted on the road versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders as the home team put up 21 points in the second and fourth periods while their offense collected 553 yards per game as they allowed their passing game to torch them for 408 yards led by Alan Bowman who threw three TD’s along with a pick while Antoine Wesley caught nine passes for 155 yards along with a TD.  Payton Bender threw for 221 yards for the Jayhawks along with having two TD’s and an interception while Pooka Williams ran for 81 yards on 16 carries for a rushing attack that obtained only 98 yards for the night.

Kansas Jayhawks's Latest Performance :

TCU is reeling at this point in the season and would love to get a win over an equally horrible Kansas team that are losers of four straight on Saturday.  TCU, on the other hand, has lost two straight games along with four of their last five as their recent loss versus the Oklahoma Sooners proved just how terrible their offense truly is.  The Horned Frogs only scored three points in the second half after going down at the conclusion of the first half by a 28-24 score.  Their defense allowed two Kyler Murray touchdown passes along with a Trey Sermon 33-yard scamper for an offense that outgained TCU 536-275 for the game.  Michael Collins took most of the snaps as opposed to Shawn Robinson (21 yards, 3 for 8 passing), as he threw for 142 yards, two TD’s, along with an interception in the loss.  Collins also led a rushing attack that collected 112 yards with Collins leading the way with only 36 yards.  Robinson, by the way, is out for the season with a shoulder injury.  The overall success of the team is heavily dependant upon how Collins performs the rest of the way.

TCU is 2-5 ATS while the OU is 3-4

Kansas is 3-4 ATS while the OU is 3-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Both these teams are in desperate need of a win at this point in the season, so expect his game to be one where each squad will be focused on doing all the intangibles in which to accomplish their goal(s).  As stated, TCU, despite its debacle versus the Sooners in their last matchup, remain as one of the stouter defensive units within the country in allowing only 347 total yards per game to their opponent while their pass defense ranks 27th in the country with 184 yards passing per contest being allowed.  Their offense has had trouble moving the ball in putting up only 343 yards per game while they are averaging 26 points per game in 2018 (less than twenty per game in their last four, as stated.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  TCU Horned Frogs -14.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Horned Frogs in this contest as I feel as though they will return to form against a Kansas team that has not play much defense lately, or, throughout the year for that matter as they are allowing teams to put up 30 points in 2018.  Collins and the passing game will be licking their chips to challenge a Kansas squad that ranks 103rd in defending the pass with 255 yards per outing.  In all, look for TCU to atone for their horrible play versus their conference foe last week while getting back into the win column on the road versus lowly Kansas this weekend.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 49

My reason for the prediction :

With TCU possessing some momentum for this game in knowing that they possess the much better defense that can stop teams either in the rush or pass, this will certainly be an under game.   The Horned Frogs will be looking to atone for their last outing to where Murray and company gave them no mercy at all as they showed TCU the full arsenal of their offense.  With that being said, the Horned Frogs will neutralize a dismal offense for Kansas while scoring just enough with Collins under center to get the win while ensuring that the total does not exceed 49 points.

Betting trends for TCU Horned Frogs:

    • Horned Frogs are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
    • Horned Frogs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss.

Betting trends for Kansas Jayhawks:

    • Under is 6-1 in Jayhawks last 7 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game.
    • Jayhawks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games.
    • Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
