Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Texas A&M Aggies vs Mississippi Rebels

The 17th ranked Texas A&M Aggies will travel to Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi, to face the struggling Mississippi State bulldogs on Saturday night at 7 pm EST.  Mississippi State has covered in four of the last five meetings amongst these squads while in the last outing, the Bulldogs picked up the 35-14 road win on October 28, 2017 as they covered as 3.5-point favorites for the game.  In their last outing, he Aggies sneaked out a 26-23 road victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on October 13th as they went up 13-0 at the half and despite an attempted rally by the Gamecocks in the second half, were able to pull out the all-important victory.   The Bulldogs suffered a 19-3 road loss to the LSU Tigers last Saturday as they scored only in the first quarter and were shut out the rest of the way as the Tigers capitalized on four interceptions by Miss State in the contest to get the win.

Texas A&M Aggies's Latest Performance :

Texas A&M continues to roll as they won their third straight game versus the Gamecocks in their last time out by fending off a late USC rally to pull off the victory as they scored ten points in the fourth quarter after a 16-16 tie with only :34 second remaining in the third.  Seth Small kicked a field goal while Trayveon Williams scored on a four-yard run to put the Aggies back up by ten before the Gamecocks scored a final TD to make the lead only three with :48 second remaining.  Kellen Mond was spectacular with 353 yards along with a TD in the win while Mond’s favorite targets for the day were Jace Sternberner (7 catches, 145 yards, TD) along with Quartney Davis (9 catches, 127 yards).  Williams ended with 78 yards and a TD for a rushing attack that collected 105 yards on the ground for a 2.6 yards per rush average.  The defense allowed Jake Bentley to throw three TD’s on this day while collecting two turnovers, allowed only two for nine conversions on third down, while also allowing the Gamecocks to hold the ball for only 18 minutes for the game.

Mississippi Rebels 's Latest Performance :

The Mississippi State Bulldogs dropped their third game in four outings versus the surging LSU Tigers at Death Valley on Saturday night as their struggling offense committed four turnovers for the game while racking up only 260 total yards total.  Nick Fitzgerald was, once again, their only offense as he threw for only 59 yards while rushing for 131 yards on 23 carries.  Nonetheless, he was terrible in the pocket as his top receiver picked up only 15 yards total for the contest while the offense converted only two of 14 third down attempts in the game.  The defense allowed the Tigers to put up 110 rushing yards while giving up only 4.6 yards per catch in the outing; However, the four Fitzgerald turnovers were huge as it allowed the Tigers to have great field position in which to score.

How Texas A&M Aggies & Mississippi Rebels Matchup.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Mississippi State really could use a win in this contest as they have had success versus the Aggies in the past; However, these teams enter this game in totally different realities with the Bulldogs losing three of four games while the Aggies have picked up wins in four of their last five altogether.  Mississippi State has indeed played well at home this season as they are 3-1 SU while being 3-1 ATS while the Aggies have went 2-0 ATS during their two road games this year.  In all, look for this to be a back and forth, yet tight SEC matchup from teams looking to either maintain their recent success, or, reassert themselves within the division before its too late.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Mississippi State Bulldogs -2.5

My reason for the pick :

The Bulldogs are hungry for a win after a disastrous stretch recently and will look to get their running game going versus an Aggies team that is only allowing 78 yard per game.  The Bulldogs, however can certainly get something going within their dismal passing game as the Aggies are allowing 242 yards per game in 2018.  With that being said, Fitzgerald is indeed a gritty player and must use his legs and arms in this contest to put some points on the board for his team.  Most importantly, he must cut down on the turnovers as he sealed the deal versus LSU due to his mistakes under center.  The Bulldogs defense will attempt to contain Mond and A&M’s 14th ranked offense in total yards per game as their defense ranks 6th in the nation in giving up only 286 total yards per game.  Despite their offense being in a funk in putting up an average of 9 points per game in their last four games, look for the Bulldogs to pull off yet another tight win on Saturday.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 51.5

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in five of the last six games for he Bulldogs while it has also been the result in four of the last five games for the Aggies.  With this being the case, look for the game to remain low scoring and competitive in that they each have two top notch defenses that are alongside average to awful offenses.  In addition to this, with so much on the line for the Bulldogs, expect them to stay in this game while keeping the score low and manageable in which to pull out a victory late in the game.

Betting trends for Texas A&M Aggies:

    • Under is 7-0 in Aggies last 7 games in October.
    • Aggies are 6-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
    • Aggies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

Betting trends for Mississippi Rebels :

    • Under is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games following an ATS loss.
    • Under is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games on grass.
    • Under is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games overall.
