Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Kent State Golden Flashes vs Bowling Green Falcons

Two cellar teams from the MAC East division will rumble on Tuesday night beginning at 8 pm EST as the Kent State Golden Flashes will battle the Bowling Green Falcons at Doyt L. Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  The Golden Flashes were blown out a home versus the Falcons on October 31, 2017 in a 44-16 shellacking as the Falcons covered as 1.5 points road favorites.  In fact, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings amongst these teams while the Golden Flashes are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings, overall.  In their last outing, Kent State had the game in hand leading 17-10 before the Zips would come back to force overtime while stopping the Golden Flashes on a two-point conversion attempt to send Kent State to their sixth straight loss with a 24-23 loss.  On the other hand, the Bowling Green Falcons were destroyed at home by the Ohio Bobcats as they allowed almost 600 total yards of offense while having only 314 yards total for the game to lose their fifth straight.  The Golden Flashes are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Kent State Golden Flashes 's Latest Performance :

Kent State was up 17-10 before Kato Nelson dashed for a 55-yard touchdown run in which to tie the game midway through the third period which eventually caused overtime.  During this period, the Nelson found Andre Williams for an eight-yard TD pass to put the Zips up 24-17; However, Woody Barrett bought the Golden Flashes back with a 29 yards touchdown pass to Justin Rankin to tie the score.  Nonetheless, the Golden Flashes were not able to convert the two-point conversion and would take the heartbreaking loss in the end.  Nelson ended with 219 yards, a TD, along with an interception while also having 90 yards rushing in addition to a TD in defeat.  Williams finished the game with 72 yards on four catches.  Both Kent State and Bowling Green are winless in the MAC this year due to their shaky offenses along with inconsistent defensive units that are ranked in the 100’s in every major category.  It would be important to mention that Bowling green is ranked 20th in pass defense, however.

Bowling Green Falcons's Latest Performance :

Thanks to two Jarret Doege touchdown passes, the Falcons were able to stay in the game early yet went down by 35-14 score as the end of the first half approached.  Nonetheless, they were shut out in the second half by a Bobcat defense that collected two turnovers in the game while holding Doege to only 214 yards total along with two TD’s and an interception in the win.  Scott Miller was a shining star for the Falcons as he racked up 145 yards on six catches along with a TD in the loss while the rushing game had only 100 yards with Rico Frye and Bryson Denly having 36 yards apiece.  The defense allowed 329 rushing yards for the game as they held true to their 130th ranking in stopping the run.  And while the Golden Flashes have struggled offensively this year, the Falcons may be in store for yet another long day as Kent Sate is ranked 69th in rushing offense in averaging 172 yards per game.

How Kent State Golden Flashes & Bowling Green Falcons Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Kent State is 5-3 ATS while the OU is 3-5

Bowling Green is 3-5 ATS while the OU is 6-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will certainly be a high scoring affair as both defenses are allowing 47 and 35 points, respectively, to their opponents for the year.  Furthermore, Bowling Green, as stated, is awful at preventing teams from rushing while the Golden Flashes are terrible at defending both the pass and the run this year in ranking 126th and 104th.  With that being the case, look for one of these cellar teams to get their first win in high scoring fashion as this may even provide a bit of confidence for the winner moving forward in which to finish up the season on a strong note.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Kent State Golden Flashes

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Golden Flashes in this matchup as the Falcons are giving up entirely too many yards on the ground.  In other words, the road team will certainly be able to maintain possession of the football with Bowling Green not being able to stop the rushing attack of their opponents.  With that being the case, the Golden Flashes are 2-1 ATS in their last three games while the Falcons are 1-3 ATS at home all year, thus signaling that Kent State will get the win in this matchup.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in last year’s matchup versus these teams while also being the result in five of the last six games for the Falcons, primarily due to their porous defense.  With that being the case, look for the Golden Flashes to shine offensively in this contest while also giving up scores to a Bowling Green team that has struggled, much like they have, all season.  The over will indeed be the strong play for teams that are giving up 500 yards in total yardage to their opponents per game.
