Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado Buffaloes vs Arizona Wildcats

The Colorado Buffalos will travel to Wildcat Stadium in Tucson, Arizona, for a Pac 12 South showdown with the Arizona Wildcats on Friday night beginning at 10:30 pm EST.  And while the Wildcats are one game below .500 in overall record, the Wildcats sit in the third place slot within the division (ahead of the Buffs) due to a 3-3 conference record compared to a 2-3 record for Colorado.  In their last outing, the Wildcats obtained a huge home win over the Oregon Ducks in picking up the 44-15 blowout victory to where Khalil Tate threw three touchdown passes while the rushing attack racked up 276 yards on the ground to get a much-needed victory after losing two straight.

The Buffaloes have struggled in losing their last three games after following up losses to USC and Washington with a loss at home to lowly Oregon State by a 41-34 score in their last outing as their defense, which has been solid for the year, allowed 24 points in the final period while also allowing a Jack Colletto one yard run to allow the Beavers to win just their second game of the season.  The last time these teams met, the Wildcats picked up the 45-42 road win in a high scoring affair to which they covered as seven-point road underdogs.  The road team is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings amongst these teams while the Over is 6-1 in the last seven games, overall.

Colorado Buffaloes's Latest Performance :

The Buffaloes were one of the top teams within the south division only three weeks ago, however, they have since went 0-3 in their last three contests while being outscored 99-67 during this time including a game in which a cellar team from the North division in Oregon State put up 41 points in an overtime victory over Colorado in Boulder, where the Buffs were undefeated on the year.  Despite two touchdown passes along with 319 passing yards from Steven Montez along with 217 rush yards versus an awful defense for the Beavers, the Buffaloes were not able to pull out the victory as they would give up entirely too many yards during the contest, particularly in the pass defense.

Jake Luton threw for 310 yards for Oregon State in their win as he threw three touchdown passes to force overtime while Jack Colletto sealed the victory in overtime to allow the Beavers to pick up their first conference win of the season. After such a deflating loss, the Buffaloes must pick themselves up to battle a suddenly resurgent team in Arizona along with face both Washington State and Utah in Boulder, before ending the season versus Cal on the road.  In all, their last loss could ruin the psyche of a team that looked as if they would win the South division.  Furthermore, a matchup with a motivated Arizona team could further serve to derail their season even more.

Arizona Wildcats's Latest Performance :

Though their chances for winning the Pac 12 South crown are out of the window, the Wildcats simply look to end the season on a strong note at this point in picking up a win over the struggling Buffaloes on Friday night.  They stunned an Oregon squad in their last time out by allowing just 84 rush yards to the Ducks while putting up 276 total yards for the game with J.J. Taylor finishing with 212 yards along with two touchdowns in the game while Shun Brown led the receiving corps with 96 yards and a TD.  Before this game, the Wildcats dropped three of their prior four games with their offense struggling due to injuries to QB Tate, but, also from a reeling defense that allowed a tad under 30 points per game.  Nonetheless, the Wildcats gained new life after their last outing as they now look to play spoiler with a remaining game at Washington State after their matchup with the Buffaloes along with at bout with their rival Arizona State to end the season.  They also look towards the bowl season as they need to win two of their last three games in which to be considered.

How Colorado Buffaloes & Arizona Wildcats Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Colorado is 5-3 ATS while the OU is 2-6

Arizona is 5-4 ATS while the OU is 2-6

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

After some terrible losses, the Buffaloes must now travel to Arizona to face a Wildcat team that manhandled the Ducks the week prior.  Look for the Wildcats to look to pick up where they left off versus a Colorado team that has truly dug a hole for themselves that they may not come out of.  Arizona, as stated, are out of the race for the South crown, however, will certainly be in the run for a decent bowl game if they are able to salvage the season by winning out.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Arizona Wildcats -4

My reason for the pick :

Look for the Wildcats to continue their momentum while building even more confidence after their huge win over Oregon last week by picking up a win over a reeling Colorado team on Friday.  Keep in mind that the Wildcats have had success facing this Buffaloes team in their last outing and with their offense receiving a huge lift from Tate last weekend, expect this to continue against the Buffs team that is bound to come out a bit flat after their awful loss to a lowly Beavers team that had only won a game all year.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

While the over was the play in last year’s high scoring matchup, look for the under to be the play in this contest on Friday as the Arizona defense will be looking to continue the success that they experience versus Oregon the week prior in allowing just 15 points while the Buffaloes will be looking to pick up the pieces in which to atone for their last loss at home.  Of course, with the under being the play in the last three home games for the Wildcats along with being the result in four of the last five matchups for Colorado, look for those trends to hold true in an all-important matchup on Friday versus teams that will certainly be looking to score a much-needed win.
