Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

UCLA Bruins vs Oregon Ducks

The UCLA Bruins will travel to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, to face the Oregon Ducks on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm EST in Pac 12 action.  The Ducks are coming off a 44-15 road loss to the Arizona Wildcats as they pounded the Ducks on the ground in racking up 276 yards for the game en route to a much-needed blowout win.  The Bruins, on the other hand, was also on the receiving end of a blowout loss as they were whipped by the Utah Utes at home by a 41-10 score with the Utes collecting over 300 yards rushing on the day as the Bruins halted a two-game winning streak.  The last time these teams met was on October 21, 2017 as the Bruins picked up the 31-14 win as they also covered as six-point favorites.  Favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings amongst these teams while the under has been the play in five of the last nine games, overall.

UCLA Bruins's Latest Performance :

UCLA had won two straight and was aiming for an upset in the showdown last weekend versus the Utes, however, this was not to be as the Utes punished the Bruins defense, currently ranked 107th in the nation in stopping the run, for well over 300 yards while holding the Bruins to only 291 total yards for the game.  UCLA also committed three turnovers in the contest as Wilson Speight threw two picks along with passing for only 164 yards total.  Joshua Kelly had 90 yards on 16 rushes along with a score in the loss while Caleb Wilson led the receiving crops with 62 yards on five catches.  In all, the loss ruined any chances of UCLA somehow making a Pac 12 run in 2018 after going .500 in the conference after beginning 0-2.  Nonetheless, their remaining schedule entails road games at Oregon along with Arizona State along with home games versus USC and Stanford to end the campaign.

Oregon Ducks's Latest Performance :

Oregon could get nothing going on offense versus the Wildcats in their last outing as they only had 270 total yards for the game with Justin Herbert throwing for 186 yards, 2 TD’s, along with an interception while also rushing for 31 yards to lead the team.  The Ducks also committed three costly turnovers in the contest while the defense allowed Arizona to rush for 276 yards in the game for a 5.4 yards per carry average as J.J Taylor finished with 212 yards along with two TD’s in the win.  Khalil Tate returned to the lineup to contribute three touchdown passes to the effort along with 189 yards as the Oregon defense has allowed 39 points per game During their two-game skid.

Of course, their play could not have come at a worse time in that while they have a win over Washington on their resume, they lost to top seeded Washington State prior to facing Arizona while also losing to 3rd ranked Stanford earlier in the year as well.  The Ducks have remaining games versus cellar teams within the Pac 12 such as UCLA, Oregon state, along with Arizona State, but, travels to Utah to face the Utes next week in what should be a huge game.

How UCLA Bruins & Oregon Ducks Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

UCLA is 3-5 ATS while the OU is 4-4

Oregon is 2-6 ATS while the OU is 3-5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

UCLA was bought back down to earth in their last matchup versus Utah and will likely face an Oregon team that is also angry about their loss to Arizona in their prior outing.  In all, look for the Ducks, whose chance of wining the Pac 12 are nil, to come out exerting themselves within the pass and run as the Bruins are ranked 95th in the nation in total yards allowed with 432 yards per game.  Also, look for the Bruins to somehow exert themselves within the trenches in which to keep the game interesting while utilizing Joshua Kelly as their main weapon.  Other than sheer pride, there will not be much to play for in this matchup as Oregon blew it versus the Wildcats last weekend.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Oregon Ducks -8.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Ducks in this win as they will certainly utilize their rushing attack versus a Bruins team that was hammered on the ground by a tough, physical Utah rushing attack.  Also, Herbert will also be looking to atone for his dismal performance in Tucson last weekend as well and will certainly put in a much better performance.  In all, take the Ducks with the points in the matchup as the Bruins have called it in after being beat into submission by Utah in their last outing.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 57

My reason for the prediction :

The under has not only been the play in their last matchup amongst each other, but, also the play in two of the last three road games for the Bruins along with three of the last four home games for the Ducks.  With that being the case, I will back the under as the strong play as both teams are coming off deflating losses while only averaging 17.5 ppg (Oregon) along with 20.5 ppg (UCLA) in their last two outings.  And while their defenses have been atrocious in their last two games, with both teams desperately needing a win, expect the defensive units to step up in this matchup to keep the score low and manageable throughout.

Betting trends for UCLA Bruins:

  • Bruins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home.

  • Over is 5-1 in Bruins last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.

  • Under is 4-1 in Bruins last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.

Betting trends for Oregon Ducks:

  • Oregon Ducks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.

  • Over is 8-1-2 in Ducks last 11 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game.

  • Ducks are 1-8 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
