Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Ohio Bobcats vs Miami, Ohio Red Hawks
The Ohio Bobcats will travel to Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio, to battle the Miami, Ohio, Red Hawks in a MAC showdown on Wednesday night at 7 pm EST. Ohio is coming off a huge 59-14 road win over the Western Michigan Broncos to where they went up 45-0 at the half en route to a blowout victory. Miami, Ohio, suffered their second straight loss (after winning two straight prior) to the Buffalo Bulls as they fought valiantly, yet were not able to contain a rushing attack for the Bulls that put up 149 yards for he game for a 4.0 per rush average. The last time these teams met was on October 31, 2017 where Buffalo picked up the 45-28 road win as they covered as huge underdogs at 7.5 points.
Ohio Bobcats's Latest Performance :
The Ohio Bobcats held serve on the road versus the struggling Broncos of Western Michigan in putting up 256 yards on the ground as AJ Ouellette (8 att, 71 yds, TD) along with QB Nathan Rourke (9 att, 68 yds, 2 TD’s) spearheaded the attack throughout the game. Rourke also threw for three TD’s in this matchup as this has been the Bobcats style of play all season as they are ranked 15th in the country as their punishing rushing attack that posts 237 yards per game. Rourke and the passing game put up 227 yards per outing, yet Rourke has been on fire lately in throwing eight TD passes compared to only one pick in his last three games. His team will certainly need him to continue to play well versus a Red Hawk defense that can give up tons of points, as illustrated by their last two outings.
Miami, Ohio Red Hawks 's Latest Performance :
Miami of Ohio opened the season at 0-3; Since, they have only been average in going 3-3 during their next six games. However, their losing cannot be attributed to their offense as this unit has averaged 36 points per game after their winless start to the season. Their most recent loss came against a stout defensive unit in Buffalo as they put up 42 points while suffering a huge road loss. Gus Ragland threw for 313 yards and a score while Alonzo Smith (13 att, 63 yds, 2 TD’s) along with Kenny Young (5 rec, 95 yds, TD) led their rushing/passing attacks, respectively.
And while the Bobcats are hot on the heels of the Buffalo Bulls in the East division of the MAC, the Red Hawks are only one game behind the Bobcats. Needless to say, both teams could use a win in this outing. However, the Red Hawks defense could certainly use a better showing from their defense as they have allowed their opponents to put up an average of 41 points in their last two games.
How Ohio Bobcats & Miami, Ohio Red Hawks Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Ohio is 6-3 ATS while the OU is 5-3
Miami, Ohio, is 5-4 ATS while the OU is 6-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
In all, this game will be interesting that the Red Hawks will certainly look to test an experienced defensive unit in the Bobcats. However, Ohio will be looking to take control of the line of scrimmage early in which to get that running game going on offense. Expect for each team to come out focused as there is much riding on the results of this matchup. Also, with both teams doing well ATS lately, this can be a difficult decision to make as to the winner and loser. Well, sort of.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Ohio Bobcats
My reason for the pick :
Two of the Red Hawks last three losses was by one point. As stated, their offense has really done well in the past few weeks. Furthermore, the team has an incentive to come out fired up to play this game, however, they better be ready for a dominant Ohio rushing attack that comes into the game ranked high in yardage per outing. It is for this reason that I will back the Bobcats in this matchup. The Red Hawks have had to rely on their offense to win games all year, however, their defensive unit has been not so good lately in allowing over 40 to their opponents in the last two contests. In all, look for the Bobcat’s rushing attack to dominate in this game as well as they will roll on to their most important game of the season: A road game versus Buffalo.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
With the Bobcats averaging over 50 points per game in their last two games while the over being the play in their last matchup, I will also back the over in this instance yet for an additional reason. As stated, the Miami, Ohio, defense has struggled in their last two games and will certainly do so versus a ground and pound team such as the Bobcats. Yes, the over will be the strong play in this matchup as I expect both teams to put points on the board throughout, with Buffalo having the advantage in the end.
