Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
South Florida Bulls vs Cincinnati Bearcats
The South Florida Bulls will take to the road to face the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm EST at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio for an AAC showdown. The Bulls continued their slide as they lost by a 41-15 score at home to the Tulane Green Wave as the rush defense for USF allowed 368 yards on the ground to the Green Wave. The Bearcats, on the other hand, are coming off their second straight win in picking up a 42-0 shutout win at home over the struggling Navy Midshipmen in their last time out. The last meeting amongst these teams saw the Bulls take the 33-3 home win as they tool a 23-3 lead into the half while cruising to victory behind 212 total yards on the ground while capitalizing off two turnovers for the Bearcats.
South Florida Bulls's Latest Performance :
South Florida’s offense has been explosive all year long in averaging 33.3 points per game, however, their defense is allowing 31 points per game to their opponents. In their last matchup, neither side played well as the offense only put up 15 points for the game while the defense allowed 368 yards to the Green wave for a 7.1 yards per rush average. QB Blake Barnett threw for 332 yards along with an interception for South Florida while Barnett also led the rushing attack with 59 yards on 16 carries along with a TD.
Nonetheless, the performance was well below what one would think from a South Florida offense that is ranked in the top 30 in every major offensive category this year. Of course, their defense is awful, yet they must fight through the remaining games on their schedule while getting a win versus the 2nd and 3rd place teams in Cincy and Temple in their next two matchups while also hoping for a UCF loss in the meantime.
Cincinnati Bearcats's Latest Performance :
Cincinnati will be facing a South Florida team that has slipped recently. And while they continue to chase UCF in the AAC East standings, they will certainly need a win in which to not only keep pace, but, to also keep Temple at bay as they are 4-1 as well within the division and have the tie breaker over the Bearcats with a 27-17 road win on October 20th. They have rebounded well from their recent loss by beating both SMU and, most recently, the Navy Midshipmen in a game to where they totally shut down the triple option attack for Navy in allowing just 124 yards total in the win.
The offense for the Bearcats performed just the opposite as they racked up 265 yards on the ground led by Charles McClennan with six carries for 85 yards and a TD. Desmond Ridder threw for 178 yards along with a touchdown pass in the game. After a rough patch in where they struggled on offense, they were back in form versus Navy as they are currently averaging 35 points per game for the year.
How South Florida Bulls & Cincinnati Bearcats Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
South Florida is 2-6 ATS while the OU is 4-4
Cincinnati is 5-3 ATS while the OU is 3-5
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This game will have many implications. The Bulls need a win to continue to control their destiny in advancing within the division. On the other hand, the Bearcats are in second place within the division and wish to take out the Bulls in which to take to the road to face the Knights after this matchup. Expect this to be a competitive affair throughout as both offenses will be up to the challenge, however, expect for some points to be scored in this affair as the Bulls defense is terrible. On the other hand, the unit for the Bearcats is solid in ranking within the top 11 in every major defensive category.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Cincinnati Bearcats
My reason for the pick :
The Bearcats defense has been lights out this year and will slow down this South Florida offense that does not perform well against above average defenses. As stated, the Bearcats are ranked in the top 11 in every defensive category this year and with their contest with the Knights looming that could decide the Eastern division of the AAC, look for the Bearcats to use this game as a tune-up for this matchup. The Bulls are 1-3 ATS in their last road games while the Bearcats are 3-1 ATS in their last four home games, overall.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
The under has been the play in the last outing amongst these two teams and this will certainly continue in this outing as the Bearcats are clicking on each side of the ball, particularly on defense. With that being the case, look for the Bulls to be neutralized in this contest while the Bearcats will score just enough to get the win in what will be a low scoring contest.
