Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Kentucky Wildcats vs Tennessee Volunteers

The 12th ranked Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, to face the Tennessee Volunteers at 3:30 pm EST for an SEC showdown.  The Wildcats are coming off a 34-17 home whipping at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs as their as their offense labored once again to score versus an aggressive Bulldogs defense.  On the defensive side of the ball, UK allowed Georgia to rush for 331 yards for the contest.

The Volunteers halted a two-game losing skid in their last matchup as they picked up the 14-3 home win over the Charlotte 49’ers as their offense struggled as well, however, a Jarrett Guantanaro touchdown pass along with a Marquez Callaway 82-yard punt return was the difference in the game.  The Wildcats came away with a 29-26 home victory over the Vols in their last matchup yet the Vols covered as 3.5-point road underdogs.  The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings amongst these teams while the Wildcats are only 1-4 ATS int eh last five games in Knoxville.

Kentucky Wildcats's Latest Performance :

Kentucky, after beginning the season at 5-0 overall including 2-0 in the SEC, have lost two of their last four games.  Their offense has certainly seen a huge decrease in scoring recently, particularly, in their last four outings to where the offense only put up an average of 15 points per game.  And while the defense has been stout during this time, this was not the case in the last outing for Kentucky as they 331 yards on the ground to the Bulldogs while also allowing them to go seven for 12 on the day on third down conversions.  In other words, Kentucky and their 33rd ranked rush defense were manhandled by their SEC East division foe, thus preventing the Wildcats from claiming to top seed in the division.

Nonetheless, they prepare for a Tennessee defense that has also carried its own in past matchups and will certainly look to build form their last win over a Charlotte 49ers team from Conference USA.

Tennessee Volunteers's Latest Performance :

While the Tennessee Volunteers are 1-4 versus the SEC this year, they are 3-1 in their last four games outside of the SEC.  Their success showed in their last outing versus the Charlotte 49’ers as they picked up the 14-3 win thanks to a Jarrett Guantanaro touchdown pass along with an 82-yard punt return by Marquez Calloway to essentially seal the victory.  Both teams had an awful night offensively as the Vols were outgained 244-192 as Guantanaro passed for 172 yards and a TD pass while the rushing attack only racked up 20 yards for the game.  Josh Palmer led the receiving corps with 71 yards on four catches and a touchdown.  The offense has struggled all year long as they currently rank at or near the 100’s in every major offensive category this year.  Nonetheless, the defense has kept them in games recently, as they did against the 49’ers.

The defense for Tennessee allowed just 2.5 yards per rush to Charlotte while its passing game was limited to 152 yards for the contest.  For the year, the Vols defense is giving up 27 points per game while only allowing 368 total yards per game.

How Kentucky Wildcats & Tennessee Volunteers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Kentucky is 4-5 ATs while the OU is 3-6

Tennessee is 4-5 ATS while the OU is 4-5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for the Wildcats to redeem themselves now that they blew it as far as the SEC East crown is concerned.  With that being the case, look for them to come out focused in this matchup while seeking to establish themselves on the defensive end as the Vols have really stunk things up on offense all year.  Also, the home team has not been overly dominant at home while Kentucky is 2-1 SU on the road this year (2-1 ATS).

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Tennessee Volunteers +4.5

My reason for the pick :

The Kentucky offense continues to struggle despite having great potential at Running back with Benny Snell Jr.  And while they may indeed come out with a victory in this matchup, look for the Vols to match their intensity every step of the way which having a golden opportunity to obtain the win outright versus a Kentucky team that is trending down at this time.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 42.5

My reason for the prediction :

I happen to see the score being very low for this contest as the Wildcats will certainly bring the defense as they have been the tip of the spear to their success this year; However, the offense has simply been a disappointment with Terry Wilson being up and down all season while the offense has had problems with sustaining drives, even with the 39th ranked rushing attack.  In all, look for both offenses to struggle in a low scoring SEC affair.
