Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

TCU Horned Frogs vs West Virginia Mountaineers

The TCU Horned Frogs will travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to Mountaineer Field to take on the 10th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon at 12 pm in Big 12 football action.  The Mountaineers are coming off yet another big win as they beat the Texas Longhorns on the road in their last outing by a 42-41 score as Will Grier threw one of his three touchdown passes to Gary Jennings for 33 yards and a score to give the road team the lead with :16 seconds left in the game.  The victory was the second straight for the Mountaineers after their road loss to Iowa State on October 13th.

The Horned Frogs continue to struggle yet they temporarily stopped the bleeding by picking up a 14-13 home victory over Kansas State in their last outing as Michael Collins and Darius Anderson both had scores for the Horned Frogs while leading them to the win.  The Horned Frogs also picked up a win in last years matchup with West Virginia while the Mountaineers covered as 12-point favorites.  The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings while TCU is 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus West Virginia, overall.

TCU Horned Frogs's Latest Performance :

TCU has struggled recently in losing four of their last six games as their offense has been dismal in averaging just 15 points per game in their last seven games, overall.  It became so bad that Skylar Thompson was bench in favor of Alex Denton who passed for only 155 yards along with a TD versus the Wildcats.  On the other hand, Michael Collins had a touchdown pass along with 218 yards passing while the Horned Frogs only racked up 57 yards on the ground as Darius Anderson put up 48 yards along with a score.  Jalen Reagor led the receiving corps for TCU with 92 yards on three catches and a score for an offense that is only averaging only 27 points per game while positing 393 yards per outing.

The defense has done its best to keep the team competitive as they are allowing 24 points per game to their opponents for the year; However, the unit is allowing 30 points per game during the last three games.  Nonetheless, TCU ranks 27th in the country in total yards allowed while allowing just 190 yards per game in the air along with 144 yards on the ground.

West Virginia Mountaineers 's Latest Performance :

West Virginia continues to impress as they have rebounded nicely from a recent loss to Iowa State on the road.  Since, they have won two straight games by beating two teams from Texas in the meantime.  The Mountaineers outscored Baylor and the Texas Longhorns by a combined score of 100-55 in two weeks as Will Grier has thrown six touchdowns compared to no interceptions during this time.  Also, he has thrown for 300 yards or over in all but one of the games for WVU this year.  Furthermore, David Sills V has scored four times during their current winning stretch as he posted 97 yards along with two scores versus the Longhorns in their last time out.  Grier, finally, passed for three TD’s on 346 yards total versus Texas as the Mountaineers are now averaging 50 points per game in their last two games.

The defense for WVU allowed some yards to the Longhorns as Sam Ehlinger threw for 254 along with three touchdowns while also rushing for a score in the contest.  Also, Tre Watson led the rushing attack with 80 yards along with a TD in the loss for the Longhorns.  Nonetheless, the unit is ranked 35th in the nation is allowing only 22 points per game for the year.

How TCU Horned Frogs & West Virginia Mountaineers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

TCU is 2-7 ATS while the OU is 4-5

West Virginia is 5-2-1 ATS while the OU is 4-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will be interesting in that the Mountaineers will certainly look to maintain their unbeaten streak at home at 4-0 (3-1 ATS) at Mountaineer Field.  On the other hand, they will seek to push the pace versus a TCU defense that has not been as effective lately due to their offense not moving the ball.  Also, the Horned Frogs will hope to gain some headway in their passing game while the Mountaineers are ranked 70th in the nation in allowing 234 yards per outing.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick; West Virginia Mountaineers -13.5

My reason for the pick :

Look for the Mountaineers to score early and often in this matchup.  And while the TCU defense has tried hard to keep the team competitive, their offense is simply not playing well at this point in the season while the offense for WVU is clicking on all cylinders.  As stated, Grier has been stellar lately while taking advantage of the speed on the outside as they will look to feast on a Horned Frogs pass defense that has been stout for much of the season.  In all, the Mountaineers will indeed cover in this matchup as they will pull away due to their ability to make big plays on offense and defense.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 56

My reason for the prediction :

The over will indeed be the play in this matchup as I do not see the defense for the Horned Frogs stopping this Mountaineer offensive attack this weekend.  In other words, look for the home team to continue to build confidence while beating up on a fatigued TCU defense that has had to log many minutes due to their offense not being able to maintain the ball recently.
