Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Vanderbilt Commodores vs Missouri Tigers

The Vanderbilt Commodores will take to the road to face the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon at 12 pm EST at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri.  The Tigers have certainly struggled lately in losing four of five games going into their matchup with Florida last weekend.  Nonetheless, they were able to take advantage of a dismal offense for the Gators along with torch a defense that has played well all season in a 38-17 road win.  It would be important to note that the win was the Tigers’ first conference win of the season.

The Commodores have struggled as well yet halted a three-game losing skid by picking up a 45-31 road win over the lowly Arkansas Razorbacks in their last time out.  Ke’Shawn Vaughn led the way with 179 yards on the ground along with three TD’s in the victory while Kyle Shurmur also pumped in two passing scores as well.  Missouri took the 45-17 road win in their last outing versus Vandy while covering as 7.5 road favorites.  The under, finally, is 4-0 in the last four meetings amongst these teams.

Vanderbilt Commodores's Latest Performance :

Vanderbilt has had many highs and lows this season.  Lately, however, they have simply had too many lows and are currently occupying the cellar position within the SEC East division at 1-4.  Their only SEC win came last weekend versus a lowly Arkansas squad, that is also a cellar team residing in the SEC West division, as Keyshawn Vaughn and the rushing attack for Vanderbilt racked up 250 yards on the ground with Vaughn chipping in three touchdowns on a 172-yard rushing day.  Kyle Shurmur also threw for 192 yards and two scores while Jared Pinckney hauled in both TD’s passes while having 93 yards receiving.  As great as the win may have been, this type of offensive output was rare for Vandy as they were averaging only 15 points per game in their three matchups prior to them destroying the Razorbacks.

Their defense continued to struggle in defending the run as the Razorbacks put up 207 yards for a 7.1 per yard average for the game while Ty Story passed for two touchdowns along with committing two picks.

Missouri Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Missouri Tigers picked up a huge win in their last time out as they destroyed the Florida Gators on the road due to their rushing attack, which put up 221 yards on a Gators defense that had been solid all year.  Demarea Crockett rushed for 114 yards along with a TD in the game while QB Drew Lock was outstanding in throwing for three touchdowns to three different receivers on 250 yards for the game.  One of the recipients of his touchdown tosses were Emmanuel Hall who led the receiving corps with 77 yards on four catches.

The Tigers defense came in allowing over 400 total yards per game yet only allowing the Gators 323 total yards in the contest as Felipe Franks passed for only 84 yards while being replaced by Kyle Trask who threw for 126 yards and a score.

How Vanderbilt Commodores & Missouri Tigers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Vanderbilt is 5-4 ATS while the OU is 3-6

Missouri is 5-4 ATS while the OU is 5-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Both teams will like to get a win in this contest.  And while both benefited from wins last weekend, they will certainly be focused for the mathup this Saturday.  With that being said, one must certainly give the Tigers some love by beating up on the Gators in Gainesville.  It is for this reason that I believe that the home team will certainly be up for this matchup.  Of course, Vandy will indeed put up a fight early on yet the game will certainly be dictated by the Tigers throughout.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Missouri Tigers -17

My reason for the pick :

I will pick the Tigers in this matchup to cover the spread in that they are not only brimming with confidence after their win over Florida in their last time out, but, they are going back home to where they are also a different team in averaging close to 40 points per game.  Vandy hit a wall midseason to which they will not recover from, and this will illustrate itself in this game as they are reeling on both sides of the ball while being only 1-3 on the road all season.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 62

My reason for the prediction :

Look for Missouri to continue their success both on the ground and in the air as they will romp over the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores this weekend.  As stated, they are averaging close to 40 a game in Columbia this year.  Combine this with the fact that Vandy will put some points on the board as well in this matchup, I will ride the over in this contest.  Again, with Vandy’s defense playing awful lately, I will certainly look for the Tigers to gain even more confidence for the road ahead.
