Arizona State Sun Devils vs Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks return home to Autzen Stadium for the final home game of the season as they will play PAC-12 foe in the Arizona State Sun Devils, the opening kickoff is slated for 10:30 PM. The Oregon Ducks are buried in a deep PAC-12 North division while Arizona State is still alive in the PAC-12 South.
Arizona State Sun Devils's Latest Performance :
Arizona State has played well under first-year coach Herm Edwards as they sit just one game out of 1st place in the PAC-12 South division as well as made themselves bowl eligible with 2 games left in the season. The Sun Devils secured their 6th win of the season at home against the UCLA Bruins behind a strong ground attack. Sophomore RB Eno Benjamin was a workhorse for the Sun Devils as he had 34 carries for 182 yards and 1 TD. Benjamin has seen a lot of work in the Edwards offense as he has carried the ball 227 times for 1295 yards and 12 TDs. QB Manny Wilkins was also able to do the bulk of his damage on the ground redshirt senior rushed for 60 yards and 2 TDs. Wilkins wasn’t as effective through the air in this game as he threw for 199 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. Although Wilkins threw 1 interception he has been responsible with the ball all season as he has a TD to Int ratio of 4:1. Top WR N’Keal Henry was able to have a solid game as he caught 7 passes for a total of 100 yards which puts him just short of 1000 yards on the season with 928 yards and 9 TDs. The defense has been the backbone for this team in the early going of the season and they stepped up when needed against UCLA. Freshmen safety Cam Phillips was able to rack up a team-high 7 tackles in his first career collegiate game. Redshirt sophomore Chase Lucas was also able to contribute nicely as he came down with his 2nd interception of the season to go along with a 6 tackle game.
Oregon Ducks's Latest Performance :
The Oregon Ducks looked like a real threat to win the PAC-12 halfway into the season but as of recent Mario Cristobal and company have not played up to expectations as they have fallen to 3-4 in conference play. The Ducks were unable to come away with a necessary win on the road against the Utah Utes despite a big game from future NFL 1st round pick Justin Herbert. The Eugene, Oregon native showed why he is the top rated QB for the 2019 draft as he threw for 288 yards and 3 TDs against one of the top defenses in the country. Herbert has displayed a high level of play all season as he has thrown for 2621 yards, 25 TDs, and only 6 interceptions. The ground game was unable to get going for the Ducks all game long as top rusher CJ Verdell was held to 28 yards on 11 carries. Verdell has rushed for over 718 yards on the season and 5 TDs but this was by far his weakest performance of the season. Junior WR Dillon Mitchell was able to hit the 1000 yard mark on the season after he had 8 catches for 169 yards and 2 TDs. The defense for Oregon has been solid all season long but they were unable to get much pressure on the Utes freshmen QB which allowed him to stay comfortable through the game. Sophomore CB Thomas Graham Jr. led the way for Oregon with 9 tackles and he was the only defender able to record a sack on the game. The leading tackler for the Ducks Troy Dye was able to record 8 tackles to give him a team-high 89 tackles on the season.

My reason for the pick :
The Oregon Ducks looked like contenders for the College Football Playoff early on in the season but the talks have slowed down but this team still has the ability to rally behind star QB Justin Herbert and improve their resume for a bowl game. Herbert is a star in the making and this could possibly be his last home game for the team he grew up watching and loving in his hometown. Herbert will come out and put on a show against Arizona State and have the ground game supplement him nicely. Oregon will need to stop Arizona State on the ground and force Wilkins to be one dimensional and if they are able to do that they should come out with a win. Both teams have big rivalry games coming up against their in-state rivals and this could be determined by who wants it more at the moment. Back the Ducks on senior night.
