Boston College Eagles vs Florida State Seminoles

The Florida State Seminoles will return home to Doak Campbell Stadium after 2 straight road games as they will take on the Boston College Eagles in an ACC matchup, the opening kickoff is slated for 3:30 PM. Florida State has their 36th consecutive bowl streak on the line from here on out as they can’t drop another game while the Boston College Eagles were eliminated from winning the ACC Atlantic division.

Boston College Eagles's Latest Performance :

The Boston College Eagles have had a solid season as they sit at 7-3 with 2 games remaining in the season but some people on the Eagles sideline may be feeling down after a hard-fought loss against Clemson at home in what could have propelled the Eagles to the ACC championship. The Eagles came limping out of their battle against Clemson with the QB position being the biggest area of concern. Anthony Brown has thrown for 1573 yards and 16 TDs in a run-heavy offense but the redshirt sophomore is questionable for the game against Florida State after suffering an abdominal injury against Clemson. If Brown is unable to go the Eagles will turn to sophomore EJ Perry who came in for Brown against Clemson and completed 12 of his 21 passes for 98 yards. The rushing attack is where Boston College thrives but star RB AJ Dillon is dealing with an injury of his own as he has had a nagging ankle problem. Dillon has been the center of the BC offense all season as he has rushed for 936 yards and 8 TDs but he was bottled up against the Tigers as he was only able to rush for 39 yards on 16 carries. The Eagles were also unable to get their top playmaker involved in Jeff Smith as the speedy WR failed to record a catch and carried the ball once for -7 yards. The defense was buzzing around most of the game for the Eagles and they were able to hold the rushing attack to 0 TDs but that proved to not be enough. Redshirt sophomore LB Max Richardson recorded 9 tackles for the Eagles while Hamp Cheevers recorded his 6th interception of the season. The lone TD of the game for the Eagles was off a Michael Walker punt return.

Florida State Seminoles's Latest Performance :

The Florida State Seminoles have not lived up to expectations in year 1 of the Willie Taggart experiment and have now found themselves on the verge of missing their first bowl game in 37 seasons. The Seminoles went on the road to Notre Dame and were on the receiving end of a bad loss as they dropped the game 42-13 to a backup QB. Redshirt junior QB Deondre Francois opened the game by throwing his 8th interception of the game which ultimately allowed the Fighting Irish to score in the blink of an eye. Francois was able to settle down after that drive as he was able to throw for a total of 216 yards. There has been an ongoing debate on who should start at QB for the Seminoles as Francois led them to an Orange Bowl back in 2016 while Blackman threw for over 421 yards and 4 TDs against a good NC State team. The rushing attack has been weak for Florida State compared to years past but sophomore Cam Akers had one of his best games of the year as he rushed for 63 yards and 2 TDs. Akers was a 1000-yard rusher during his freshmen season but his production has been cut in half this year as he only has 557 yards and 5 TDs. Senior WR Nyquan Murray had the best game out of any Noles WR as he was able to bring down 6 catches for a total of 79 yards. The defense was able to rattle the Irish QB as they forced 2 interceptions but they got shredded on the ground for 200+ yards. LB Dontavious Jackson had a big game for the Noles as he had a team-high 11 tackles as well as brought down his 1st interception of the season.

Against The Spread Selection: Boston College Eagles -1.5

My reason for the pick :

This line is set low because there is uncertainty at the QB position for the Boston College Eagles but that shouldn’t concern bettors because AJ Dillon is the center of this offense. Florida State hasn’t been able to score on anyone this season and Boston College have shown the ability to play defense against the best of them. Florida State will try to keep their bowl streak alive but they will also be looking forward to a big in-state rivalry game next week against UF. Boston College has also been very good ATS on the road this season and that trend will continue here. Take Boston College with the small spread.

  • Florida State is 1-3 ATS as the underdog this season.
