The Clemson Tigers are set to return home to Clemson Memorial Stadium after playing on the road as they will welcome in ACC foe in the Duke Blue Devils, the opening kickoff is slated for 7:00 PM. The Clemson Tigers look destined to make it back to the College Football Playoff after locking up an ACC Championship spot while the Duke Blue Devils are bowl eligible once again under David Cutcliffe.

Duke Blue Devils's Latest Performance :

The Duke Blue Devils have shown the ability to score at will the last few games and last game was no different as they put up 42 points at home against their rivals in the UNC Tar Heels. Duke received a big day out of their veteran QB Daniel Jones as the redshirt junior was able to connect on 31 of his 54 passes for 361 yards and 3 TDs. Jones was also the top rusher for the Blue Devils as he was able to pick up 186 yards and 1 TD on the ground. Jones has missed some time with injury but he has still combined for 2275 yards and 18 TDs on the season. Sophomore RB Deon Jackson was able to have a solid game on the ground as well as he was able to rush for 78 yards and 1 TD which gives him a team-high 725 yards and 7 TDs. The Blue Devils pass catchers had a big game especially senior WR T.J. Rahming who had a team-high 9 catches for 98 yards. Rahming sits 2nd on the team in yards with 518 but 1st on the team in TDs as he has hurled in 6 TD catches. Chris Taylor was able to have a big game from the slot as well as the redshirt senior out of Miami had 4 catches go for 95 yards and 1 TD. The Blue Devils let a below average offense in the Tar Heels score 35 points but that may be because they were missing their top LB in Joe Giles-Harris. Giles-Harris is the glue that holds this defense together as he has a team-high 81 tackles as well as 7 TFL. Brandon Hill stepped into his starting role and compiled 10 tackles which accounts for half his season total.

Clemson Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Clemson Tigers have locked up another appearance in the ACC Championship game after they beat a ranked Boston College team on the road 27-7. Freshmen QB Trevor Lawrence had a solid outing for the Tigers as he was able to throw for 295 yards and 1 TD, and although he was picked off for only the 4th time this season it didn’t cause much harm. Lawrence has been sensational ever since Dabo Swinney inserted the former #1 recruit into the starting lineup as he currently has 1844 yards, 19 TDs, and only 4 interceptions. The ground game has been the strength of this Clemson team through the first half of the season but the Boston College Eagles made it a priority which is why Heisman candidate Travis Etienne only rushed for 78 yards on 11 carries. Although Etienne was shutdown must of the game he used his 78 yards to go over the 1000-yard mark as the sophomore now has 1077 yards and 15 TDs on the season. Trevor Lawrence was able to connect with Hunter Renfrow 8 different times as he compiled 80 yards. Renfrow has been silent this year as the redshirt senior sits 4th on the team with 385 yards and 1 TD. The Tigers received a big game out of their defense as they held a solid Boston College offense to only 7 points. Redshirt junior safety Tanner Muse made some big plays for Clemson as he led the team with 10 tackles. DE Austin Bryant was in the Eagles backfield all night long as he was able to rack up 1.5 sacks which puts his season total at 5.5.

Against The Spread Selection: Duke Blue Devils +27

My reason for the pick :

There is no doubt in my mind that Clemson should win this game but this is a trap game in my opinion for the Tigers as they are coming off a huge win against a ranked opponent as well as might be looking forward to a matchup with their in-state rival in USC. Clemson has a sensational defense but Duke has shown the ability to score over the last few weeks and with a veteran QB like Jones there shouldn’t be many mistakes. If Joe Giles-Harris is back for this matchup the defense should play fired up and keep the Blue Devils within this 4 TD spread. The Blue Devils have also been great ATS on the road this season which is another reason I will be taking the points. Duke with the points is my pick.

Betting trends for Duke Blue Devils:

  • Duke is 4-0 ATS as underdogs this season.

Betting trends for Clemson Tigers:

  • Clemson is 6-1 ATS when playing ACC opponents this season.
