Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Indiana Hoosiers vs Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines will play one more game at Michigan Stadium as they will welcome in Big Ten foe in the Indiana Hoosiers, the opening kickoff is slated for 4:00 PM. The Michigan Wolverines are in prime position to make the College Football Playoff while the Hoosiers are fighting to return back to a bowl game.

Indiana Hoosiers's Latest Performance :

The Indiana Hoosiers failed to make the postseason in Tom Allen’s first season as head coach and they are on the verge of missing out once again as the Hoosiers will need to find at least one win in their next 2 games. The Hoosiers came away with a big win in their recent home game against Maryland 34-32. Redshirt sophomore Peyton Ramsey had a solid game through the air as he was able to throw for 243 yards and 2 TDs but he was also a threat on the ground as he racked up a TD. Although Ramsey has 17 TDs this season he will have to keep his turnover rate down (11 interceptions) especially against a stingy defense like Michigan. The Hoosiers also received a big game out of freshmen RB Stevie Scott as the 6’2 back was able to crack 100 yards as well as add in a TD. Scott has been sensational for the Hoosiers this year as the true freshmen is on his way to cracking the 1000 yard mark as he currently has 894 yards as well as 8 TDs. Ramsey was able to hook up with his favorite target Donovan Hale 3 times for 92 yards with 1 of them going for 6. The Hoosiers will have to sharpen up a couple of things on the defensive side of the ball but they were able to receive a big game out of sophomore LB T.D. Roof as he was able to record a team-high 10 tackles. Backup DB Jaylin Williams was able to come down with his first career interception which should give confidence to the true freshmen moving forward.

Michigan Wolverines's Latest Performance :

The Michigan Wolverines have been fantastic this year and they are in prime position to not only win a Big Ten Championship but potentially make the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history. A huge reason for the Wolverines success has to be accredited to the wonderful QB play they have been receiving out of former 5-star recruit Shea Patterson. Patterson had a huge game against Rutgers as the former Ole Miss Rebel threw for 260 yards and 3 TDs. Patterson has thrown for over 1927 yards, 17 TDs, and 3 interceptions but what makes him so dangerous is his running ability and he has shown flashes to do so as he has 187 yards and 2 TDs. The backfield is led by a number of running backs but the main RB is Karan Higdon who broke the 1000 yard mark after the Rutgers game as well as added 2 TDs which puts his season total at 9. Patterson’s favorite target through the air is WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (447 yards, 7 TDs) and although he had 83 yards against Rutgers WR Nico Collins overshadowed his performance by catching 2 TD passes.  The Michigan defense is arguably one of the best in all of college football and what makes them so dangerous is that every player on the field is capable of having a big game. Sophomore Ambry Thomas was able to bring down the first interception of his young career while the electric pass rusher Chase Winovich was able to record 5 tackles of his own.

Against The Spread Selection: Michigan Wolverines -27.5

My reason for the pick :

I hate backing big spreads but this is just too hard to pass up as I don’t see the Wolverines and their stingy defense letting up on anyone. The Wolverines are so close to reaching the College Football Playoff and with a veteran infested defense, they will make sure they take no opponent lightly and keep the foot on the gas. Michigan has a stud QB and he should have no problem shredding a below-average secondary like the Indiana Hoosiers. Take Michigan to destroy the Hoosiers at home as this will be the last home game for the seniors.
