NC State Wolfpack vs Louisville Cardinals

The Louisville Cardinals return home to Cardinal Stadium after playing 2 straight ranked teams on the road as they will welcome in ACC foe in the NC State Wolfpack, the opening kickoff is slated for 12:20 PM. Louisville has been on the receiving end of some bad blowouts this season while NC State was upset at home last week.

NC State Wolfpack's Latest Performance :

The NC State Wolfpack will be on full alert this week after they dropped their recent game against Wake Forest which put a dagger in any New Years Six Bowl. QB Ryan Finley attempted 52 passes and he completed 35 of them for 352 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception, and he even added a score on the ground. Finley has been solid all season for the Wolfpack as he has racked up 2864 yards, 17 TDs, and 7 interceptions. The Wolfpack received some big games out of their top pass catchers as Kelvin Harmon racked up 134 yards on 15 catches and Jakobi Meyers racked up 117 yards on 10 catches. Harmon has emerged as one of the top WR NFL prospects for this upcoming draft and reasonably so as the 6’3 junior has totaled 965 yards and 5 TDs on the season. Sophomore WR Emeka Emezie was on the receiving end of the lone TD pass of the game which extends his season total to 4. The running game for NC State was not strong against Wake Forest as top rusher Reggie Gallaspy was held to only 36 yards on 14 carries. The Wolfpack defense was solid for most of the game but they fell apart in the 4th quarter as they let them score 14 points. Redshirt junior safety Jarius Morehead led the team in tackles as he had 14 while redshirt freshmen LB Isaiah Moore had a team-high 2 sacks. The leading tackler Germaine Pratt racked up 12 tackles to extend his season total to 91.

Louisville Cardinals's Latest Performance :

The Louisville Cardinals went on the road to Syracuse and were being blown out 37-7 before halftime which in retrospect wrapped up Bobby Petrino’s career at Louisville as they moved on from the 5th year coach. Lousiville starting QB Jawon Pass had a tough outing as the redshirt sophomore threw for only 196 yards, 1 TD, and one interception. Pass has gone through growing pains this season as the first year starter has more turnovers than TDs (11 INTs to 8 TDs) and he has yet to crack 2,000 yards on the season. Backup QB Malik Cunningham came into the game to deliver a spark but he only attempted one pass compared to running the ball on 6 different occasions for 64 yards. Cunningham has been the top rusher for the Cardinals this season as he has racked up over 308 yards on the ground and 3 TDs. The Cardinals top wideout Jaylen Smith struggled to get going against Syracuse as the senior only had 2 catches for 27 yards. Smith has had a down year after he racked up 980 yards and 7 TDs during his junior season as he currently has 463 yards and 1 TD. The defense got shredded for the Cardinals for a 2nd straight game but senior safety Dee Smith racked up 8 tackles to bring his season total to a team-high 60 tackles. Redshirt sophomore DE Tabarius Patterson had the lone sack of the game for the Cardinals as he got home to the QB once.

Against The Spread Selection: NC State Wolfpack -15

My reason for the pick :

Louisville is simply not a good team this year and with turnover at the head coaching position, I simply don’t think they will come to play for this game. NC State will come into this game with a sense of urgency after they may have taken Wake Forest lightly last week and with Louisville giving up 40+ PPG, Finley should have a field day. Louisville offense has been the laughing stock of college football this season and I think NC State will step up in a big way and keep them under 10 points. Also, Louisville1 has only beaten the spread once this season. Take NC State to cover the spread.
