Ohio State Buckeyes's Latest Performance :
The Ohio State Buckeyes have kept themselves alive in the Big Ten East race after a big win on the road against the 20th ranked Michigan State Spartans. The Buckeyes were able to use their defense and special teams to win the field position battle which eventually let the offense break through for 26 points. Sophomore Dwayne Haskins didn’t put up Heisman type numbers but he was still very efficient for the Buckeyes as he completed 24 of 39 passes for a total of 227 yards and a TD. Haskins has put up sensational numbers for Ohio State this season as he has totaled 3280 yards, 33 TDs, and only 6 interceptions. Michigan State had one of the best run defenses in the country but that didn’t phase Urban Meyer and company as Mike Weber ran the ball 22 times for 104 yards and a TD. Weber and J.K. Dobbins have been one of the best 1-2 punches in college football as the RB duo has combined for 1423 yards and 11 TDs on the season. Haskins was able to hook up with Parris Campbell for his lone TD pass of the game which gave the senior WR a team-high 9th receiving TD on the season. The defense stepped up in a big way for the Buckeyes as they were able to keep the Spartans to 6 points. Sophomore LB Pete Werner led the Buckeyes in tackles as he racked up 7 which gives him 42 on the season. Punter Drue Chrisman punted the ball 9 different times where he was able to rack up over 340 yards and pinned the Spartans back inside their 5 for multiple possessions.
Maryland Terrapins's Latest Performance :
The Maryland football program has been in shambles ever since this past offseason but the despite all the distractions the Terrapins find themselves 1 game away from clinching bowl eligibility for the 1st time since 2016. The Terrapins fell just short of achieving that milestone last week against the Indiana Hoosiers as they fell 34-32 on the road. Starting QB Kasim Hill was eventually benched in this matchup after he went 4 for 12 with 43 yards and an interception. Redshirt sophomore Tyrell Pigrome came into the game and stopped the bleeding for the Terrapins as he was able to go 10 of 13 for 146 yards and 1 TD. The Terrapins were really successful on the ground in this matchup as redshirt freshmen Anthony McFarland was able to gain 210 yards on 29 carries. McFarland has been solid in his first year as the 5’8 back out of Maryland has racked up a total of 724 yards and 2 TDs. The Terrapins top WR Taivon Jacobs was held to only 2 catches for 14 yards but freshmen Dontay Demus stepped up by catching 4 passes for 98 yards. Senior LB Tre Watson was a problem all game for the Indiana Hoosiers as he was able to rack up 7 tackles and intercept a pass. Watson has easily been the best defender for the Terrapins this year as the senior has racked up 92 tackles and 5 interceptions. Kicker Joseph Petrino had a solid game for the Terrapins as well as he went a perfect 4 for 4 in the FG department.

My reason for the pick :
The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a huge victory against Michigan State and they are now looking forward to their big matchup at home against their most hated rival in the Michigan Wolverines. On the other hand, Maryland is 1 game away from obtaining bowl eligibility and they are ready to play in front of their home crowd once more and lock up a spot in the postseason. Maryland now knows they have 2 different QBs who can get the job done which is why they will be in a good spot against Ohio State as they can make a change if one is playing bad. I expect McFarland to have a big game on the ground and shred the Ohio State defense. Maryland may not win this game but they will stay within the number on senior day.
