Penn State Nittany Lions's Latest Performance :
The Penn State Nittany Lions are having a down year to their standards as they are not in the middle of the Big Ten East race like they have been the last few seasons. A huge reason for Penn State underperforming early on in the season can be accredited to their QB Trace McSorley being banged up all season. McSorley hasn’t been able to extend plays like he usually does because of a knee injury he sustained earlier in the season. McSorley in their recent matchup against the Badgers threw for only 160 yards and 1 TD as well as failed to gain much steam on the ground as he had 11 carries for 9 yards. McSorley when healthy is one of the biggest dual-threat QBs in the nation as he has rushed for 620 yards and 9 TDs over the course of the season. The reason that the Nittany Lions were able to come out with a victory against the Badgers is that they received a solid outing from their junior RB Miles Sanders. Sanders was able to get loose for 159 yards and 1 TD which puts the 215 pound back at 1007 yards and 9 TDs on the season. McSorley’s top target KJ Hamler was able to corral 5 catches for 35 yards which extends his season yard mark to 553. The defense was really good for the Nittany Lions in their matchup against the Badgers as they were able to sack the QB 5 different times as well as bring down 2 interceptions. Redshirt junior Robert Windsor had a big game from the DT spot as he had 6 tackles as well as 2 sacks which puts his season total at 4.5.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights's Latest Performance :
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are not good this year simple as that but they do have something positive to move forward with and that is the fact that they scored on the Michigan Wolverines in the 1st quarter. Freshmen RB Isaih Pacheco had a big game against one of the best defenses in college football as the New Jersey native carried the ball 16 times for 142 yards and 1 TD. Pacheco wasn’t the lead back for the Scarlet Knights this season but the Freshmen was solid in his appearances as he compiled 460 yards and 3 TDs. The area where the Scarlet Knights need to analyze is the QB position as freshmen QB Artur Sitkowski has been turnover prone all season. Sitkowski only completed 8 passes against Michigan which went for 40 yards and he also had an interception. Sitkowski has only completed 49% of his passes this season and he hasn’t been very careful with the ball as he has 4 TDs compared to 16 interceptions. RB Raheem Blackshear has been the top pass catcher this season for the Scarlet Knights but he was held to only 16 yards on 5 catches last outing. The defense has gotten shredded all season long and Michigan was no different as they gave up 42 points on 453 yards. Redshirt senior safety Saquan Hampton led the team in tackles against the Wolverines as he had 11 tackles which put his season total at 55. Jon Bateky was the lone Scarlet Knight to record a sack in this game and that was the seniors team-high 3rd sack of the season.

My reason for the pick :
Big spreads are no fun to bet as you usually sweat out the blowouts because of garbage time TDs but at the end of the day the Rutgers program is in shambles and Penn State should run all of them. Even if McSorley isn’t 100% for this game he will still be able to shred the 105th ranked defense with Miles Sanders rushing for over 200+ yards. The defense for Penn State showed up last week against Wisconsin and they should be able to hold Rutgers to a touchdown or less. Take Penn State and the big number.
