Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Utah Utes vs Colorado Buffaloes
The Colorado Buffaloes will return to Folsom Field for the final home game of the season as they will welcome in PAC-12 foe in the Utah Utes, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:30 PM. The Utah Utes hold a small lead in the PAC-12 South division while the Colorado Buffaloes still need 1 game to become bowl eligible.
Utah Utes's Latest Performance :
The Utah Utes have been one of the surprising teams in college football as they have played good in PAC-12 play and look like the favorite out of the South division. The Utes will move forward the rest of the season without their star QB as well as their star RB who both suffered season-ending injuries. Freshmen QB Jason Shelley has taken over the reins for Tyler Huntley and he looked solid against Oregon as the Texas native was able to throw for 262 yards as well as add 2 TDs on the ground. Zack Moss was the next piece that the Utes had to replace and that isn’t easy as the junior has rushed for over 1092 yards and 11 TDs this season. Fellow classmate of Moss junior Armand Shyne showed there is no slowing down for the Utes ground game as he rushed for 174 yards on 26 carries. Shyne has flashed the ability all year to be a featured back but Moss always overshadowed his abilities. On the receiving end of things freshmen TE Cole Fotheringham had the biggest game of his young career as he was able to rack up 76 yards on 5 catches. Utah doesn’t necessarily care to be known by their offense but the one thing they take pride in is their strong defensive unit. Senior LB Chase Hansen had a big game for the Utes as he led the team in tackles with 13 tackles to push his season total to 88. Hansen has been in opposing backfields all year long and he has made his mark as he has 19 TFL. The Utes were able to pressure arguably the best QB in college football as they compiled 4 sacks.
Colorado Buffaloes's Latest Performance :
The Colorado Buffaloes saw themselves peak as high as 19th in the AP poll this season but times have changed as 6th-year head coach Mike MacIntyre was fired from his duties after the Buffaloes have lost 5 straight games. The Buffaloes went into a game with the Washington State Cougars with a sense of urgency because they wanted that home-field upset but after going up 7-0 they were eventually outscored 31-0 over the course of the game. Colorado QB Steven Montez was unable to get much going as the junior threw for 199 yards and ran the ball 4 different times for a loss of 15 yards. Montez has been solid all season long as he has racked up 2595 yards, 17 TDs, and only 5 interceptions but most of his work was done in non-conference play. Virginia Tech transfer Travon McMillian had a good game on the ground for the Buffaloes as he was able to run for 73 yards and 1 TD on 9 carries, McMillian is just shy of 1000 yards on the season as the senior RB sits at 910 yards with an additional 6 TDs to go along with his productive season. The Buffaloes were able to receive back their star WR Laviska Shenault and the sophomore didn’t look like he missed a beat as he caught 10 balls for 102 yards. Junior LB Davion Taylor led the way for the Colorado defense as he had a team-high 11 tackles which pushes his season total to 45. Colorado was without their star LB most of the game as Nate Landman was ejected earlier on for a targeting call.

Against The Spread Selection: Utah Utes -7
My reason for the pick :
This is eye-opening for me as I have Utah as a double-digit favorite in this game given the fact that Colorado doesn’t have a head coach and they have lost 5 straight games. People are underestimating the fact that Utah lost their QB and RB but as we saw against Oregon they are capable of filling in and getting the job done. Utah has one of the strongest defense’s in the nation and they are slightly better than the Washington State defense that held Colorado to only 7 points. The Utes should easily win this game by 2 TDs or more. Back Utah.
