Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Air Force Falcons vs Wyoming Cowboys
The Air Force Falcons will travel to War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming, to battle the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm EST. The Cowboys picked up the 28-14 road win in their meeting on January 11, 2017 as the Cowboys were 2.5-point underdogs. In fact, the underdog is 14—3 ATS in the last 17 games amongst these two squads. The Falcons are 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings in Wyoming.
Nonetheless, the Falcons halted a two-game losing streak by picking up the 42-24 home win over the Lobos of New Mexico in their last outing as the dangerous triple option attack for the Falcons came alive in gaining 478 yards for the game. Donald Hammond III was the man of the hour in throwing for 145 yards and two TD’s while also rushing for 136 yards and a touchdown in the win. On the other hand, Wyoming, after a disastrous season, has suddenly won two straight games as they picked up a 24-9 home win over the Spartans of San Jose State in their last outing. Their rushing attack was the tip of the spear as the Cowboys collected 424 yards on the ground for the night as Nico Evans and Sean Chambers led the attack with a combined 316 yards along with two scores.
Air Force Falcons's Latest Performance :
The Cowboys of Wyoming did not meet many of their goals set during the beginning of the season, however, they have won their last two games due to an offense, which averages only 18 points per game for the season, were able to put up and average of 29 points during this time. Their defense has remained their prize as they have only giving up 28 points combined in their current winning streak. And while it took some time for Evans and Chambers to get going in their last contest, when they began to gain confidence, they would dominate in the rushing game in putting up over 300 yards on the ground along with two scores.
Sean Chambers threw a TD pass during the win, yet their defense was the headliner in allowing just 244 total yards for the game. Their defense will certainly welcome the opportunity to line up against an Air Force offense that is coming off a dominating performance in their last outing.
Wyoming Cowboys's Latest Performance :
The Falcons will certainly be playing for a possible bowl game this year as they stand at 4-6 on the season. On the other hand, they have remaining games with the Cowboys along with the Lobos next week as each are very winnable contests. Also, with their running game coming back to life in their last outing, look for the Falcons to have a swagger coming into this matchup with the Cowboys, a team that they lost to by 14 in last year’s matchup. The problem this year has been the up and down offense for the air Force that possesses a 7th ranked rushing attack yet cannot seem to get their triple option attack going in pivotal games this season.
On the other hand, the defense has been solid in allowing 26 points per game while ranking high in stopping the run at 22nd in the nation. Nonetheless, they are known to give up yardage within the pass secondary as they are ranked 66th in that respect.
The pass defense was much better versus New Mexico State as they allowed just 186 yards passing to Sherrion Jones while picking him off once. On the other hand, the rush defense allowed only 3.3 yards per carry in the contest and they cruised to victory.
How Air Force Falcons & Wyoming Cowboys Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Air Force is 6-3 ATS while the OU is 4-6
Wyoming is 3-7 ATS while the OU is 3-6
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This game will be interesting in that the Falcons and Cowboys will be looking to come a game closer to being bowl eligible. On the other hand, the Falcons will also look to keep their triple option attack going versus the 16th ranked defense in points allowed in Wyoming. In all, look for this to be a grind out game to where the trenches will be where the game will begin and end.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Wyoming -2.5
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Cowboys in this matchup as I feel as though they are the better team at this point in the season. And while both squads have struggled on offense throughout the year, look for the defense for Wyoming to be the tip of the spear in getting a win in this contest as they will stuff the inconsistent offense for the Falcons to come up with a huge win.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 42
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the under in this contest as you have a Wyoming defense that will be looking to exert their dominance over a Jekyll and Hyde offensive attack for the falcons. However, the team will not capitalize on many of their opportunities due to a mostly off-again offense for the Cowboys. In all, the under will indeed be the strong play in this matchup due to the strong defense of the home team.
