Eastern Michigan Eagles's Latest Performance :
Despite their hard-fought loss against Army a few weeks back, the Eastern Michigan Eagles have been on a roll as they have won 4 out of their last 5 games in convincing fashion. The Eagles are coming off an impressive victory at home against Akron to secure their 6th win of the season behind a solid defensive effort. Senior QB Tyler Wiegers has had a solid season for the Eagles but he was unable to generate much down the field as he completed 15 of his 23 passes for a total of 129 yards. Wiegers hasn’t put up Heisman numbers but he has been responsible with the ball as he has only thrown 2 interceptions compared to 11 TDs. The rushing attack allowed for Eastern Michigan to control the game as redshirt junior RB Ian Eriksen picked up 96 yards and a TD on 15 carries while Breck Turner, Willie Parker, and Shaq Vann combined for 23 carries, 89 yards, and a TD. Vann has been the leading rusher all season for the Eagles as he has compiled 590 yards and 5 TD but Eastern Michigan has run with an RB by committee system over the last few weeks. Top WR Blake Banham was held to 2 catches for 27 yards but it opened the door for redshirt sophomore Matthew Sexton to haul down 5 catches for 55 yards. The defense for the Eagles has been much better since the Army loss and this is one of those games where they flexed their muscles. The defense was able to bring down 3 interceptions, 2 sacks, and hold Akron to only 1 TD. Kevin McGill was able to bring down his team-high 3rd interception of the season while Maxx Crosby contributed 8 tackles and an interception.
Kent State Golden Flashes's Latest Performance :
The Kent State Golden Flashes won’t make a bowl game for a 6th consecutive season but there is still hope that 1st-year coach Sean Lewis has this team moving in the right direction. Kent State is coming off a high scoring outing last week against Toledo but the Golden Flashes were unable to keep pace with Toledo as they dropped the game 56-34. Kent State once again used both QB with Woody Barrett contributing on the ground and Dustin Crum having a solid game through the air. Barrett was able to throw for 198 yards and a TD but he also threw an interception while Crum went 7 for 8 with 116 yards and a TD. The one knock on Barrett this season has been his turnover tendencies as he has thrown 11 TDs compared to 9 interceptions while Crum has thrown 2 TDs and 0 interceptions. Junior RB Jo-el Shaw had a big game for the Golden Flashes as he was able to rack up over 116 yards and a TD on 16 carries which has extended his season-total 498 yards and 6 TDs, Barrett also contributed a TD on the ground. The change in QB didn’t effect top WR Mike Carrigan from having a big game as he had a team-high 7 catches for 110 yards and a TD. The junior WR is having a solid season as he has eclipsed the 500-yard mark as he sits at 540 yards and 5 TDs. The defense has been non-existent all season long for the Golden Flashes and their latest outing was another example of that. The Golden Flashes were unable to force any turnovers or record a sack but LB Dalton Hicks had yet another busy day for the Golden Flashes as he contributed a team-high 13 tackles.

Against The Spread Selection: Eastern Michigan
My reason for the pick :
This is a tale of two teams heading in completely different directions as Eastern Michigan has amped up their play as of recent while Kent State is trying to figure out what positives they can bring into next season. Eastern Michigan has not been anything special on offense this season but Kent State has failed to stop anyone which could allow the ground attack to get going for the Eagles. Kent State has been trying to figure out things on offense but that isn’t going to work against the stingy Eastern Michigan defense. As good as Kent State has been ATS at home Eastern Michigan has been better ATS on the road. Ride with the Eagles as they prepare for a bowl game.
