Nebraska Corhuskers's Latest Performance :
The Scott Frost era got off to an extremely slow start as they went 0-6 but the Cornhuskers look like they have flipped a switch as they have gone 4-1 over their last 5 games. Nebraska was able to get an important win at home on senior day against the Michigan State Spartans as they received a strong game out of their defense. Freshmen QB Adrian Martinez was held to only 145 yards and although he didn’t throw a TD he also didn’t turn the ball over to one of the best defenses in college football. Martinez got a late start to his season but he has put together a solid freshmen campaign as he thrown for over 2357 yards, 15 TDs, and 7 interceptions. The ground game has been strong all season behind senior Devine Ozigbo and although he wasn’t able to contribute on the scoreboard he still racked up 74 yards on 18 carries which extends his season total to 1032 yards and 12 TDs. Freshmen RB Maurice Washington will be stepping into the starting role next season for Ozigbo and he has shown burst of explosiveness with 446 yards on 7 carries. Leading WR Stanley Morgan Jr. didn’t have a 100-yard game but he compiled 67 yards on 4 catches which puts him just short of 1000-yards on the season as he sits at 923 yards. The defense stepped up in a huge way for the Cornhuskers as they kept Michigan State out of the end zone. Senior DB Antonio Reed had a huge game in the final home game of his career as he contributed a team-high 7 tackles, 1 sack, and even brought down 2nd interception of the season.
Iowa Hawkeyes's Latest Performance :
The Iowa Hawkeyes have been a favorite over the last few years to represent the West division in the Big Ten but this year they have endured a bad season as they only went 4-4 in conference play. The Hawkeyes are coming off an impressive win on the road against Illinois as they were able to put 63 points up on defensive-minded head coach Lovie Smith. Junior QB Nathan Stanley was able to continue his good 2018 campaign with a 3 TD performance as he threw for 178 yards. Stanley has quietly put together one of the better seasons out of Big Ten QBs which has generated NFL buzz as he has compiled over 2486 yards, 21 TDs, and 9 interceptions. The ground attack was able to establish their dominance all game as RBs Mehki Sargent and Toren Young had great games for the Hawkeyes. Sargent had the biggest game out of anyone as he was able to run wild for 121 yards and 2 TDs on 17 carries while Young also contributed 2 TDs and 67 yards on 14 carries. Sargent and Young look identical in the stat sheet as Sargent leads the team with 575 yards and 8 TDs while Young closely follows with 547 yards and 4 TDs. The TEs for the Hawkeyes proved to be matchup problems all game for Illinois as Noah Fant brought down 3 catches for 54 yards and a TD while T.J. Hockenson had 2 catches for 48 yards and 2 TD. The Hawkeyes defense was able to get back to Iowa football as they pitched a shutout behind 3 sacks and 3 interceptions. DE A.J. Epenesa had a big game for the Hawkeyes as he racked up 8 tackles and 1.5 sacks while DB Amani Hook brought down his team-high 4th interception of the season.

Against The Spread Selection: Iowa Hawkeyes
My reason for the pick :
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been solid over the last few weeks but after seeing the Iowa Hawkeyes steamroll a Big Ten team last week I will be backing them in this one. The Cornhuskers kept Michigan State out of the end zone which was impressive for the 103rd ranked defense but Michigan State is not a good offensive team as they rank 118th in the nation. Iowa put up 63 points against Illinois which is impressive no matter how bad Illinois has been this year. I think that Stanley has allowed this offense to do so much more this year as the ground attack is good as always but the air attack has been impressive. The seniors will be all in for this game and they will roll into bowl season with a W. Take Iowa.
