Utah State Aggies's Latest Performance :
The Utah State Aggies were caught looking ahead to this week as they were a penalty away from losing to the 3-8 Colorado State Rams on the road but luckily they live to see another week after winning 29-24. The Aggies high powered offense was kept in check in this outing especially QB Jordan Love as he was only able to throw for 169 yards and a TD. The sophomore has been a huge reason behind the Aggies success this season as he has thrown for 2845 yards, 25 TDs, and only 4 interceptions. The ground game has been a two-headed monster all season long but this week they had no rusher crack 100 yards or even score a TD. Gerold Bright led the way for the Aggies with 89 yards on 13 carries but lead RB Darwin Thompson was unable to get much generated as he only gained 48 yards on 13 carries. Thompson has a chance at a 1000-yard season as he currently has 890 yards and 14 TDs but Bright is following him closely with 777 yards and 8 TDs. The Aggies pass catchers were kept in check for most of the game but leading WR Ron’Quavion Tarver was still able to rack up a team-high 6 catches for 69 yards while Aaren Vaughns was on the receiving end of the lone TD pass of the game. The Aggies aren’t known for their defensive efforts but they were amped up in this game as they returned 2 interceptions for TDs. Aaron Wade had the longest return of the game as he took an interception 95 yards while Jontrell Rocquemore went 32 yards for a TD. Sophomore LB David Woodwards had a productive game as he was able to rack up 20 tackles to give him 113 on the season.
Boise State Broncos's Latest Performance :
The Boise State Broncos have been the face of the group of 5 teams over the last decade or so and they have a shot at being a Cinderella once again especially with a win this weekend over the 1st place Aggies. The Broncos are led by senior QB Brett Rypien and he was able to show his dominance in their latest game against New Mexico as he threw for 222 yards and 3 TDs. Rypien has been really responsible with the ball this season as he has thrown for 3270 yards,28 TDs, and only 7 interceptions. The ground game is something that has come alive for the Broncos over the last few weeks and it has proven to be a major difference in the success of this offense. Junior RB Alexander Mattison was able to rack up 145 yards and a TD on 20 carries last week against New Mexico while Andrew Van Burden punched in a TD of his own. The WRs for Rypien have been excellent this season and this outing was no different as redshirt senior WR Sean Modster brought down all 3 TD passes from Rypien while adding in 129 yards. Modster is the leading WR for the Broncos this season as he currently sits at 852 yards and 7 TDs on the season. Boise State was still able to assert their dominance despite their 2nd WR being shut down as A.J. Richardson was held to only 1 catch for 8 yards. The defense for the Broncos has been solid this season and their matchup against New Mexico was no different. Redshirt freshmen LB Ezekiel Noa led the way with 7 tackles while recording half a sack and Kekaula Kaniho came down with his 2nd interception of the season.

My reason for the pick :
This game has been overlooked by college football fans because of all the big rivalry games this week but this has potential to be a really fun game. I will side with Utah State in this matchup as they have the best offense in the nation at this moment and given the fact that they played poorly last week I am sure adjustments were made. The Aggies ground attack will force the defense to put more guys in the box and then Jordan Love has the arm to expose 1 on 1 coverage down the field. The Aggies defense is slightly better than the Boise State defense and I think they string a couple of stops together to at least keep Utah State in the game. I think the Aggies win this outright but I will take the free 2.5 points as they will be a close matchup.
