New York Jets vs Washington Redskins
The New York Jets visit FedEx Field on Thursday night to take on the Washington Redskins in a preseason match-up. The Redskins finished the season 7-9 last year missing the playoffs once again. The Jets went a dismal 5-11 last season and missed the playoffs for a seventh straight season. The last time these two teams clashed was back in 2016, the Jets lost in week three to the Redskins 20-21 at FedEx Field. Both teams are looking to improve on their record a season ago and make a run for the playoffs for the first time in years.
New York Jets's Latest Performance :
The New York Jets are still rebuilding even as they roll through training camp. Their offense was afforded a huge upgrade when they acquired a much-needed quarterback in Sam Darnold but now they need to acquire an edge rusher to help the defense. There have been some rumblings that Oakland Raider Khalil Mack might be worth chasing. He’s in a heated contract dispute with the Raiders front office. There’s no doubt the Raider’s defensive player of the year in 2016 would be a major upgrade and really improve their defense. If they’re going to make a move, they better make it now so they can avoid possibly and eighth playoff miss in a row.
Washington Redskins's Latest Performance :
The Washington Redskins have not had the best of training camps. They’ve lost a number of players for the season including wide receiver Robert Davis, rookie running back Derrius Guice who tore an ACL in a loss to the New England Patriots, and tight end Mannaseh Garner who also tore is ACL. Coach Jay Gruden will have some decisions to make especially with the loss of Guice who was looking to be their main ball carrier this season. They do however have six other running backs on the list and won’t look to sign a veteran running back. Backs Chris Robinson and Rob Kelley will now take the bulk of the handoffs during the regular season.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
These two teams match-up quite well. They are both rebuilding and looking to make a run at the playoffs. There is a lot to prove on both sides of the ball for both teams and coaches Todd Bowles and Jay Gruden know too well that their time is limited if they keep losing and missing the coveted playoffs. Both teams have made solid changes to both their offenses and defenses adding key players and making key trades. Is it enough to get them over the hump? Only time will tell. The preseason doesn’t mean much as far as records go but it does give a fairly good indication as to who is ready to play football and who isn’t.
