Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Philadelphia Eagles vs New England Patriots
The five-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots welcome the world champion Philadelphia Eagles to Gillette Field on Thursday night in a preseason rematch of Super Bowl LII that was won by the Eagles in 2017. Both teams had exceptional seasons last year and come into this season looking to repeat and get back to the Super Bowl. After losing 41-33 in their last match-up, coach Bill Belichick will look to his 41 yr. old former MVP to take the Patriots the distance once again. If quarterback Nick Foles and coach Doug Pederson have anything to say about it, the Eagles will be the team to beat in 2018.
Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :
The Philadelphia Eagles got back to work almost immediately after their Super Bowl victory. It was a Cinderella season for them last year and an opportunity to possibly repeat. The NFL’s reigning Super Bowl MVP, Nick Foles, returned to action on Saturday after missing almost a week of action. He had a solid day of practice and connected to speedster Mike Wallace on a 40-yard bomb and a TD throw in the back of the end zone to tight end Zach Ertz who made a one-handed grab. The offense seems to be clicking and the defense has followed suit even though there are still a lot of guys making a statement for a starting job.
New England Patriots's Latest Performance :
The New England Patriots seem to only get better in the offseason by acquiring bits and pieces that make them a much stronger team. Take the acquisition of Eric Decker – a speedster who can run solid routes and open up the middle of the field giving offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel and Tom Brady plenty of options. Decker will also help fill the hole with wide receiver Julian Edelman serving out his four-game suspension.
Aside from New England’s front line getting it done on Thursday night against the Washington Redskins, quarterback Brian Hoyer and running back Jeremy Hill were solid and were the difference in the 26-17 victory.
