Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Baltimore Ravens vs Miami Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens will travel to South Beach to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins for week 3 preseason NFL action.  The Ravens look to keep their unbeaten preseason streak intact against a Miami team that has struggled on both sides of the ball thus far.  Their last loss was against the Carolina Panthers as they would fall 27-20 in a road loss on 8-17-2018 to where they would fail to cover as underdogs (+3) while the over was the play with the total being set at 43 for the game.  The Ravens would go on to beat the Indianapolis Colts on the road on 8-20-2018 by a 20-19 score to where the Colts would cash in on the spread (+2) while the under was the play with the total being set at 43 for the game.  This game will match a Dolphins offense that is ranked 5th in the league in total yards per game (364) against a Ravens D that is allowing only 244 yards per game (3rd).  On the other hand, Baltimore’s offense has been middle of the road thus far in averaging 288 yards per game (22nd) along with 23 ppg (9th) while the dolphins defense ranks 31st in the league in total yards allowed at 402 while also permitting teams to score 27 ppg (28th).

Baltimore Ravens's Latest Performance :

The Colts would score 9 points in the 4th quarter against the Ravens, yet, would not get the win as they would fall 20-19 at home on 8-20-2018.  The Ravens D would only hold the Colts to a total of 15 first downs along with 69 yards rushing and 215 yards passing for the game.  Indy would also go 2-4 in the red zone for the game.  Anthony Levine Sr along with Stanley Jean Baptiste would have an interception each while Za’Darius Smith, Terrell Suggs, Tyus Bowser, and Tim Williams would all collect sacks for what has been a very aggressive Ravens defensive unit.  Also, Williams and Jean Baptiste would also lead the team in tackles with 5 each.

Offensively, the Ravens would pick up 21 first down while racking up 139 yards rushing along with 127 passing yards.  They were 2-2 inside the red zone for the night.  Joe Flacco would go 7/9 for 72 yards and a TD while Lamar Jackson would also go 7/15 for 49 yards and a score.  Robert Griffin III would get some snaps in this game as he would go 6/8 for 31 yards total.  Gus Edwards would pace the rushing attack with 15 rushes for 43 yards while Kenneth Dixon would also contribute to the run with 6 rushes for 32 yards.  Lamar Jackson would also have 4 rushes for 26 yards on the night.  Michael Crabtree would have 1 catch for the Ravens for 29 yards while Kenneth Dixon would have 3 catches for a total of 24 yards.

Miami Dolphins's Latest Performance :

After the Dolphins would make the score 13-12 in favor of the Panthers early in the 4th quarter, Carolina would get back to basics and would score 2 TD’s by Cameron-Artis Payne and Elijah Hood in which to take control of the game and pick up the huge win versus the Dolphins, who would end the game allowing 224 yards on the ground while also permitting 179 yards through the air.  The Panthers would also go 2-2 in the red zone during the game.  Xavien Howard and Maurice Smith would each have an interception in the game while Robert Quinn (2 sacks) and Charles Harris (1 sack) would also step up for the defense as well.  Cordrea Tankersly and Maurice Smith would also lead the team in tackles with 3 apiece.

Offensively, the Dolphins had 17 first downs along with 109 rushing yards with 225 yards though the air in this matchup as Ryan Tannehill would go 14/17 for 100 yards while Brock Osweiller would get some time under center while ending with 68 yards on 10/13 attempts.  Bryce Petty would also go 5/6 for 58 yards in the loss.  Kenyon Drake would pace the rushing attack for Miami as he would have 8 rushes for 54 yards, altogether, while Buddy Howell would have 40 yards on 5 rushes for the game.  Jakeem Grant would step up for the receiving corps for Miami as he would have 4 catches for 45 yards while Albert Wilson would also have 5 catches for 39 yards total.  Senorise Perry would also be targeted 4 times for 4 catches for 32 yards.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Miami offense will get to learn much about its overall makeup during this game on Saturday against a tough-minded Ravens D.  The Dolphins must be able to match the type of intensity that Baltimore will bring to the table with their seasoned veterans along with impressionable young talent that is looking to step up and receive more playing time.  With that being said, the Ravens should be looking forward to playing against the Dolphins, also, as the way the home team has been playing thus far in the preseason, their mishaps and lack of focus on both sides of the ball will certainly result in a win for the road team in the end.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Baltimore Ravens Pk

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Ravens in this matchup as they have certainly been playing well thus far in the preseason and, as usual, have been relying on their aggressive defense in which to set the tone for games while their offense continues to find the end zone when needed in which to maintain leads throughout the game.  I expect the Ravens to once again, get after the QB all night long in his contest as the Dolphins signal callers can be a bit shaky in the pocket at times.  With that being said, I will certainly ride the Ravens to pick up win number 4 in the preseason while also continuing to dominant on defense.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under 41.5

My reason for the prediction :

With a defense as dominant as Baltimore’s, I would not expect many points to be scored by the Dolphins in this matchup. In fact, I really do not expect the Ravens offense to light things up on the scoreboard either as they have struggled in the first 2 games of the preseason as well.  This matchup will certainly be about defense, thus allowing the under to be the logical result against two teams that are looking to allow their defense to become the tip of the spear in leading a winning charge in 2018.
