Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

NY Jets vs Philadelphia Eagles

The NY Jets will travel to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 8-30-2018, to battle the Philadelphia Eagles in week 4 preseason NFL action beginning at 7 pm EST.  the Jets will be looking to end the preseason at .500 while the Eagles look to win their first game of the preseason, altogether, win a win.  In their last outing, the Eagles would suffer the 5-0 loss to the Browns on the road in week 3 as the Browns would cash in on the spread (-3) while the under was the play with the total being set at 41.5 points.  The Jets would fall to the Giants at home by a score of 22-16 on 8-24-2018 as they would miss out on the spread (-2.5) while the under was also the play with the total being set at 40.5 points.  In their last meeting on 9-27-2015, the Eagles would pick up the 24-17 road win as they would cash in on the spread (+3) while the under was the play with totals being set at 47 points.  The Eagles hope to get their offense cranking once again in preparation for the regular season while the Jets hope to shore up their defense in this matchup to ultimately secure the win.

NY Jets's Latest Performance :

The Jets offense would also go cold in the second half as they were only allowed 3 points versus the Giants in their most recent loss.  They collected 17 first downs while rushing for 66 yards while putting up 190 passing yards for the game.  Teddy Bridgewater would go 11 for 15 for 104 yards while Sam Darnold would go 8 for 16 for 86 yards along with a TD in the loss.  Bilal Powell would have 10 rushes for 24 yards while Trenton Cannon would rush 5 times for 23 yards for the Jets.  Andre Roberts would haul in 2 catches for 34 yards while Trenton Cannon (4 catches, 30 yards) and Isiah Crowell (2 catches, 18 yards) would also step in defeat for the home team.  The Jets were 2 of 3 inside the red zone however, while holding the ball for 28:58 minutes.

The Jets defense would allow 18 first downs on 87 yards rushing alongside 262 passing yards, total.  They would allow 0 for 3 efficiency in the red zone while allowing the Giants to possess the ball for 31:02 minutes of the game.  Frankie Luvu would record a sack for the Jets while Darron Lee would lead the team with 6 stops.  Buster Skrine and Truamine Johnson would each have 3 tackles each inn the loss.

Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :

The Eagles would only rack up 18 first downs against the Browns D while passing for 162 yards and rushing for 101 yards, total.  They were also 0-2 in the red zone while possessing the ball for a total of 29:01 minutes in the contest.  Nick Foles would go 13 for 17 with 127 yards, yet, would have 2 picks on the night while Nate Sudfeld would end with 72 yards on 11 for 21 passing.  Wendell Smallwood would pace the rushing attack as he would obtain 53 yards on 12 rushes while Josh Adams would rush 4 times for 33 yards.  DeAndre Carter would lead the receiving corps in catches as he would have 4 for 73 yards while matt Jones (6 catches, 30 yards) and Zack Ertz (4 catches, 26 yards) would also step up in the loss.

How NY Jets & Philadelphia Eagles Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Again, both teams look to end the preseason on a high note after a rough couple games recently.  The Eagles, as stated, are winless and would love to give themselves along with their fans, a bit of optimism going into the regular season while the Jets seek to atone for their loss to the Giants and end the preseason at .500.  With that being said, each team will simply settle for maximum effort and intensity in this matchup that would translate into week 1 of the regular season.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: NY Jets -2

My reason for the pick :

While Philly continues to play awful on offense, the Jets have been decent in moving the ball in the preseason.  Of course, the eagles will certainly play much better on offense than in their last outing versus the Browns, I happen to feel as if they will simply look to get out of this contest healthy, for the most part.  Not to say that a win would not be important, however, with key loss, particularly at the QB position, they would like to go into the regular season with the talent that they have in hopes that the kinks will be worked out soon.  In all, the Jets will squeak by the home team in what should be a back and forth game on Thursday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under 37.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this contest in tat the Eagles have not played well on offense at all during the preseason while their dense, aside from the New England game, has been solid.  The Jets, on the other hand, would be able to move the ball effectively during the regular season, however, their defense has struggled in their last 3 games.  With that being said, expect the under to be the result of this matchup as it will fall just below the total of 37.5.

Betting trends for NY Jets:

    • Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games
    • Jets are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games on grass
    • Jets are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 road games
    • Jets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings.

Betting trends for Philadelphia Eagles:

    • Eagles are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games on grass
    • Under is 4-1 in Eagles last 5 home games
    • Over is 7-2 in Eagles last 9 Thursday games.
