Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cincinnati Bengals vs Indianapolis Colts

The Cincinnati Bengals, after losing a heartbreaker to the Colts at home in week 4 of the preseason by a score of 28-27 to end the preseason at 3-1, will now travel to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, to battle the Colts, once again, in what should be a very intriguing matchup.  The Colts would cash in on the spread in this matchup (+2.5) while the over was the play with the total being set at 34.5 for the game.  The Colts, who also ended the preseason with a 3-1 record, will look to build from this momentum in week 1 in which to pick up a win.  The matchups between these two squads always seem to remain close as on 10-29-2017, the Bengals would get the 24-23 home win over the Colts, yet, the road team would cover the spread as 11-point dogs while the over was the paly with the total being 44 points for the game.  In all, both teams will be playing with their full slate of talent on Sunday in which to have a great showing that, ultimately, ends up in victory.

Cincinnati Bengals's Latest Performance :

The Colts offense would have 27 first downs in the game as they would obtain 107 yards rushing against 331 passing yards on the Bengals defensive unit.  They would go a perfect 3 for 3 inside the red zone while possessing the ball for 30:12 minutes.  They would, however, have 2 rumbles (2 lost) for the contest.  Phillip Walker would have an outstanding game under center as he would end with 263 yards, total, along with 2 TD’s and an INT on 19 for 31 passing while Jacoby Brissett (8/12, 68 yds, TD) was also solid under center for the Colts in the slim victory.  Walker would also rush for 20 yards on 4 carries while Christian Micheal would rush for 41 yards on 5 rushes.  Brandon Oliver would also have 33 yards rushing on 10 attempts with a TD.  As one can see, the passing attack was on fire as Cobie Hamilton (3 rec, 62 yds, TD), Ross Travis (3 rec, 48 yds), Branden Oliver (5 rec, 48 yds), and Zack Pascal (3 rec, 33 yards, TD) would pace the receiving corps.  Eric Swoope would also have 3 receptions for 23 yards along with a TD in the victory for Indy.  The defense for the Bengals would be led by Trayvon Henderson who would have a pick while Sam Hubbard would have a sack in the loss.  Junior Joseph and KeiVarie Russell would each have 4 tackles in the game while Hardy Nickerson and Malik Jefferson would each have 5 tackles to lead the unit.

Indianapolis Colts 's Latest Performance :

The Bengals would pick up 22 first downs in their win over Indy on Thursday night as they would rack up 105 yards on the ground along with 212 yards passing, total.  They would go 2 for 4 inside the red zone for the night while possessing the ball for a total of 29:48 minutes.  Jeff Driskel (14/20, 116 yds, TD) would lead under center while Logan Woodside (9/15, 96 yds) and Matt Barkley (0/3) would also receive some time at QB in the loss.  Brian Hill (38 yds, 8 rushes) and Quentin Flowers (23 yds, 8 rushes) would pace the running game with Mark Walton would rack up just 17 yds on 10 carries, but, would score a TD in defeat.  Mason Shreck 6 rec, 51 yds) would have yet another promising showing at receiver awhile Josh Malone would have 2 receptions for 48 yards and a TD.  Finally, Auden Tate would have 33 yards total on just 2 catches for the Bengals.  Taumasi Laulile would get a sack in the contest for the Colts D while Robert Jackson, Lashard Durr, George Odom, Henre’ Tolliver would each have 4 tackles for the unit in this matchup.

How Cincinnati Bengals & Indianapolis Colts Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

I am also sure that both teams only showed a fraction of their overall repertoire on both sides in week 4.  For this game, expect these squads to open it up much more as they will have a full slate of playmakers from which to choose.  With that being said, it will be interesting to see if Luck will have the same ‘luck’ that the Colts offense had in week 4 as it relates to passing.  Nonetheless, expect them to exploit their secondary once again with their starting QB rejoining the team after a long and intense recovery.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Indianapolis -3

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Colts in this matchup for a few reasons.  Their win in the final week of the preseason will serve to provide much confidence going in to their opening week matchup against Cincy.  On the other hand, the Colts will be on a high in welcoming back Luck to the starting offense as he also looks to prove that he is fully healed from injury and ready to take his spot amongst the elite QB’s of the league.  With that being said, expect the Colts defense to step up in this contest while the Bengals will indeed fall in week 1 to a Colts squad with lots of momentum heading into the season.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 46.5

My reason for the prediction :

Again, I have a feeling that the Colts will go to the well, once again, and try out that defensive secondary of the Bengals that gave up a total of 331 yards last week to Indy.  Look to for Colts to establish the running game early, though, simply to take some pressure off Luck.  It would be important to reiterate the fact that Indy had over 100 yards rushing in their week 4 matchup.  Once they are able to get something going on the ground, look for Luck and the playmakers within the receiving corps to take over, thus putting this game out of reach.  Of course, it is for this reason that I expect the total of 46.5 points to be surpassed.

    • Over is 4-1 in Bengals last 5 vs. AFC
    • Bengals are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Betting trends for Indianapolis Colts :

    • Under is 6-0 in Colts last 6 games on fieldturf.
