Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Rams vs Oakland Raiders

The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Oakland Alameda Coliseum in Oakland, California, for a week 1 NFL showdown versus the Oakland Raiders on Monday night at 10:20 pm EST as the second of two NFL games to end the opening week.  The Rams would have a disastrous preseason as they would end with a 2-2 record while dropping their finale on the road versus the Saints in a 28-0 shutout on 8-30-2018.  The Saints would cover the spread (-6) while the under was the play as the total was set at 33 points for the game.  The Raiders would have a very encouraging preseason as they would end the preseason with a 3-1 record as they would pick up a 30-19 road win versus the Seattle Seahawks on 8-30-2018 to where the Raiders would cash in on the spread (-3.5) while the over was the play with the total being set at 34 points for the game.

Los Angeles Rams's Latest Performance :

The offense for the Rams would pick up 10 first downs on 76 yards rushing along with 75 yards passing for the game.  They would go 0 for 1 inside the red zone while holding the ball for 31:07 minutes.  Brandon Allen would go 7 for 13 for 57 yards while Luis Perez would have 43 yards passing on 8 of 15 attempts.  Each QB would also have a pick in the contest.  Larry Rose II would rush 12 times for 43 yards while Nick Holley would also rush 11 times for 31 yards total.  Johnny Mundt (4 rec, 40 yds) along with Fred Brown (4 rec, 31 yds) would pace the receiving corps in the blowout loss.

The Rams D would allow the Saints 21 first downs on 192 yards rushing along with 177 yards passing for the night.  They would also allow NO to go 3 for 4 inside the red zone while holding the ball for 28:52 minutes.  Steven Parker would get a pick in this game while leading the team in tackles with 4 for the night.  Trevon Young and Micah Kiser would each have 4 stops for the game while Justin Lawler had 3 tackles for the Rams.

Oakland Raiders's Latest Performance :

The Raiders would only gain 15 first downs in their win over the Seahawks in week 4 of the preseason, however, they would rack up 63 yards rushing along with 289 yards passing.  They would also go perfect inside the red zone (1-1) while holding the football for a total of 30:52 minutes.  E.J. Manuel would go 18 for 22 for 255 yards along with 3 TD’s while Conner Cook would have 36 yards and a TD on 3 for 5 passing.  Chris Warren III would lead the team in rushing with 12 rushes for 42 yards while James Butler would rush 9 times for 18 yards in the win.  Keon Hatcher (8 rec, 123, 3 TD’s) along with Saeed Blacknall (3 rec, 58 yards, TD) would lead the receiving corps for Oakland in the victory.

The defense has improved during the preseason as they allowed the Seahawks 24 first downs on 131 yards rushing along with 318 passing yards for the game.  They would also allow Seattle to go 2 for 2 inside the red zone while holding the ball for 29:08 minutes.  Tank Carradine would get a sack in this contest while Shalom Luani would lead the team in tackles with 6 tackles.  Jason Cabinda would also have 6 stops on the night for Oakland while Jarell Carter (5 tackles) and Dallin Leavitt (4 tackles) would also step up for the up and coming defensive front.

How Los Angeles Rams & Oakland Raiders Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Goff and Gurley should be back in the lineup for the road team in this matchup, however, they will certainly need to bring their A game as the Raiders D will certainly be looking at this game as a measuring stick.  In other words, they look to become a dominant defense within the division in 2018, however, that starts with a great showing at home in week 1.  In all, it will be interesting to see how they perform against Gurley and the Rams rushing attack.  I look forward to this contest as I will also think that it will be intriguing to see if the Oakland offense could also be a bit more consistent against the Rams.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Oakland Raiders +3

My reason for the pick :

Of course, I will gladly take the Raiders plus the points in this matchup against a Rams team that will have its starters in the lineup in week 1, yet, will not be able to dominant in the trenches as the Raiders will certainly have a coming out party on an offense that has only scored 47 total points in the preseason.  While Oakland should not (and cannot) be considered as an offensive juggernaut, they do, however, possess a defense with size, quickness, and seemingly unlimited potential to really make some noise against the competition in 2018.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 49.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the under simply because neither of the offenses have played with any type of consistency thus far.  On the other hand, Oakland’s D will turn some heads in the league this year as they have certainly improved at every level, particularly, along with defensive line.  Their play will serve to neutralize the Rams in this matchup, thus preventing the point total from coming anywhere near the set total of 49.5 for the contest.
