How Tampa Bay Buccaneers & New Orleans Saints Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
In their recent meetings, it seems as if the winner has been the home team. Of course, expect both teams, who are very familiar with each other over the years, to have their new and/or young talent on full display in this matchup. With Fitzpatrick likely stepping in for Winston in this week 1 matchup, expect the Saints active and aggressive defense to get after him early in hopes that it speeds up his clock in the pocket, thus allowing him to make some mistakes against an opportunistic New Orleans secondary. On the other hand, Brees looks to get some real time and meaningful action with his weapons against a Bucs D that has allowed 58 points in their last 2 preseason matchups, overall.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Tampa Bay Bucs +9.5
My reason for the pick :
I will ride with the Bucs in this matchup simply due to their talent at wideout. Of course, Fitzpatrick will step in for the next few weeks, however, they should be able to get enough going on offense to hold their own against the Saints on the road in which to cover this type of spread. Albeit, the Saints have impressed, yet, the Bucs were caught slipping in their finale preseason game and will put up a much better performance on both sides against their division foe on Sunday.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 49.5
My reason for the prediction :
I happen to think that the Bucs as well as the Saints will score some points in this contest. In fact, they have too much talent and speed within their offensive units to not score points. In other words, both teams were constructed to light up the scoreboard. With that being said, even with Fitzpatrick stepping in for Winston, he could certainly benefit from a Bucs rushing game that keeps team honest along with wideouts with big play ability. The Saints will have Brees, who will look to exploit the Bucs in the trenches as well as along its defensive secondary. In all, take the over as I see the score certainly surpassing the 50-point mark in this exciting matchup.
