Tennessee Titans vs Miami Dolphins
The Tennessee titans will travel to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, to take on the Miami Dolphins in week 1 AFC action on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 pm EST. Both teams had horrible preseasons, yet, the Dolphins would pick up a 34-7 win in their last matchup on 8-30-2018 over a reeling Atlanta Falcons squad on the road. They would cash in on the spread (-2) while the over was the play with the total being set at 36.5 for the game. The Titans, on the other hand, would go winless in the preseason as they would drop their finale by a 13-3 score at home versus the Minnesota Vikings on 8-30-32018. The last time these two teams met was on 10-8-2017 when the Dolphins would pick up the 16-10 home win in a pickem game to where the under was the play with 41.5 being the total.
Tennessee Titans's Latest Performance :
The Titans offense was held scoreless after scoring only 3 points in the first period of week 4’s meeting with the Vikings. In all, they picked up 11 first downs on 74 yards rushing along with 91 passing yards. They would also go 0-1 inside the red zone while holding the ball for 26:49 minutes, total. Luke Falk would go 13 for 24 with 114 yards while Dayln Dawkins would pace the rushing attack with 17 rushes for 53 yards. Akrum Wadley would also have 16 yards on 4 rushes. Cameron Batson (4 rec, 46 yds) along with Brandon Shippen (2 rec, 23 yds) would lead the receiving corps in a dismal performance.
Their defense allowed the Viks 16 first downs on 96 yards rushing along with 171 passing yards. They would go only 0 for 2 inside the red zone, however, while holding the ball for a combined 33:31 minutes. David King would pick up a sack for the Titans in the loss while Joshua Kalu and Nyles Morgan would each have 5 stops for the unit. Damon Webb and Robert Spillane would have 4 tackles each for Tennessee.
Miami Dolphins's Latest Performance :
The Dolphins defense would only allow Atlanta’s offense 9 first downs in week 4 on 84 yards rushing along with 110 passing yards. They would, however, go 1 for 1 inside the red zone for their only score while possessing the ball for 23:22 minutes thanks to an outstanding defensive effort from the fish. Jordan Lucas would be my star of the game as he would record a sack, a pick, along with 3 tackles in the game to lead the unit while Stephon Anthony would also receive a pick along with Claudy Matthew, Jonathan Woodward recording a sack as well. Frank Ginda would have 5 stops on the night while Quintin Poling would chip in 4 tackles as well in the win.
The Offense racked up 26 first downs on 117 yards rushing along with 226 yards passing for the night. They went 4 for 5 inside the red zone on a dismal Falcon defense while holding the ball for 36:38 minutes, total. Brock Osweiler would go 16 of 25 for 147 yards along with 2 scores while David Fales would go 13 of 20 for 94 yards and a pick. Brandon Ratcliffe (53 yards, 14 att) and Kalen Ballage (25 yards, 4 att, TD) would pace the rushing attack while Fales and Osweiler would combine for 5 rushes for 22 yards, total. Buddy Howell would also have 3 rushes for 7 yards and a TD in the victory. Isiah Ford (43 yards, 4 rec), Kalen Ballage (37 yards, 3 rec), and Leonte Carroo (3 rec, 34 yards) would lead the receiving corps on this night for Miami.
How Tennessee Titans & Miami Dolphins Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This game will be a low-scoring affair in that both offenses are struggling mightily to move the ball. Their defenses, on the other hand, have really been the tip of the spear in preventing both squads from getting blown out in their last few outings. With that being said, expect yet another lackluster performance from teams that are seemingly regressing on offense with every week that passes. It will be interesting to see how Miami performs in this matchup after picking up a much-needed win in their last time out.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Miami Dolphins +1
My reason for the pick :
Someone must have much confidence that the Dolphins can get this done as they are recipients of the early money as the line decreased from -2.5 in favor of the Titans to only -1 at this point. I will back the Dolphins as I not only feel that while they may be terrible on offense, they certainly have the better D at the moment which could help them to put the offense in great positions in which to score some points. The Titans, again, are not clicking as they should on the offensive side of the ball and will continue to show this on the road on Sunday, despite having Marriota in the lineup.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 45
My reason for the prediction :
As stated, this will certainly be a low-scoring matchup. And while the defenses may not be stellar, they will certainly take center stage in this contest as both offenses will struggle to win in the trenches throughout the game. Each have simply not shown that they can establish this area of their game plan during the preseason. In all, expect this to be a sleeper with the total being well under 45 points.
