Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Baltimore Ravens vs Cincinnati Bengals

After their week 1 blowout, the Ravens will now travel to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on the 1-0 Cincinnati Bengals for a Thursday night AFC North showdown at 8:20 pm EST.  The last time these two teams would meet would be on 12-31-2017 as the Bengals would squeak out a 31-27 road win to where they would cash in on the spread (+8) while the over of 40 was surpassed.  As stated, the Ravens will come into this matchup on a high as they were able to dominate the Buffalo Bills in week 1 by picking up a 47-3 home win.  They would cover the spread easily (-7.5) while the over was the play in that the total was set at only 38 points for the game.  The Bengals would also pick up a 34-23 road win over the Indianapolis Colts on opening week as they would also cover the spread (-1) while the over was the play with the total being set at 47 points for the contest.  These teams are very familiar with each other, so, one can really expect an exciting matchup as each will look to gain the inside tract within the division.

Baltimore Ravens's Latest Performance :

The Ravens would win easily versus the Bills on opening week as Joe Flacco would throw for 236 yards on 25 for 34 passing along with 3 TD’s in the win while Kenneth Dixon would have 13 rushes for 44 yards and a TD in the victory, yet, would leave the game with an undisclosed injury.  Javorius Allen (4 rush, 17 yds, TD) and Alex Collins (7 rush, 13 yds, TD) would also step up for the rushing game that racked up 117 total yards for the game.  Michael Crabtree would score a TD for the Ravens in this game while John Brown (3 rec, 44 yds, TD) and Willie Snead IV (4 rec, 49 yds, TD) would also lead the receiving corps against a dismal Buffalo defensive effort.  The Ravens would dominate in time of possession by holding the ball for 35:14 minutes in the contest while going 6 for 6 inside the red zone.  The defense for the Raves would hold the Bills to only 153 yards total in this game as Josh Allen would start while going only 6 for 15 for the day with 74 yards while Nate Peterman also had time under center throwing 2 picks while going 5 for 18 for only 24 yards in the loss.

Cincinnati Bengals's Latest Performance :

With Coach Marvin Lewis instilling a win-now attitude for the Bengals, they would put up 24 points in the second half en route to a huge road victory to begin the 2018 season as Andy Dalton would lead the way going 21 for 28 with 243 yards passing along with 2 TD’s and 1 INT in the win.  Cincy’s rushing attack would gain 101 yards on the night with Joe Mixon carrying the ball a total of 17 times for 95 yards and a TD.  Mixon would also be targeted 7 times for 5 catches for 54 yards while AJ Green would be in season form in grabbing 6 catches for 92 yards and a score in the win.  Overall, the Bengals would hold the ball for 27:12 minutes in the game while racking up a total of 329 yards with 19 first downs.  They would, however, fumble twice with one being lost while also having 8 penalties worth 94 total yards.  Their defense, however, would hold the Colts to 380 total yards on 1for 3 efficiency inside the red zone as Carlos Dunlap and Gino Atkins would both get a sack in the contest while Preston Brown would get a pick along with 5 stops on the day.  Furthermore, Nick Vigil (11 tackles), Clayton Fejedelum (9 tackles), and Jessie Bates (8 tackles) would pace the defense as they would allow 305 passing yards to Andrew Luck and the Colts while stuffing its running game in only allowing 75 total yards.

How Baltimore Ravens & Cincinnati Bengals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Ravens are 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 1-0

Bengals are 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 1-0

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Again, with coach Lewis preaching a win-now attitude, the Bengals will certainly come out focused for this matchup.  On the other hand, the Ravens and their playmakers on both sides of the ball will also carry some momentum into Paul Brown Stadium on Thursday after their stellar victory  in opening week.  In all, one could expect both teams to be stubborn in giving an inch to the other as each offense will struggle moving the ball throughout the game.  On the other hand, with their familiarity with each other from past matchups, one could also expect this to be a defensive minded matchup that will come down to offensive execution late in the game.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Cincinnati Bengals +1.5

My reason for the pick :

While I happen to believe that this will certainly be an exciting game to watch, this matchup will come down to offensive execution along with focus and intensity on defense.  Also, while both teams exhibited this in their opening week matchup, I expect the Bengals to come out blazing in this matchup as they not only have much to prove after some lackluster seasons in the past, but, they have also possess the bragging rights over Baltimore in that they have played well against them in the past.  The spread has jumped from 3 points in favor of the Ravens to 1.5 currently, as the public has jumped on the Bengals at home to show and prove on Thursday.  I will side with the public in this game and back the home team to pull out a close victory over a tough Ravens squad.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 44

My reason for the prediction :

While the over was the play in both matchups for these teams in week 1, expect there to be a solid defensive effort on both sides on Thursday.  Again, both teams are very familiar with each other and will be looking to establish themselves in the trenches.  With that being said, each unit will not want to give any advantage to the other in this game, thus allowing the under of 44 points to be the play in what I feel will be a close, low-scoring matchup amongst these two squads.
