Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will meet in week two NFL action at Raymond James stadium on Sunday afternoon with the starting time being at 1 pm EST. The Eagles would get the 18-12 home win over the Atlanta Falcons in week one as they would cover as one point favorites while the under was the play with the total of 44.5 points not being surpassed while the Buccaneers would pick up a high-scoring 48-40 road win over the New Orleans Saints in their opener as they would cover as they would cover as 10-point road underdogs while the over was the play with 50 points being set for the game. The last time these two teams would meet would be on November 22, 2015 where the Bucs would get the 45-17 road win as they would cover as 7-point underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 46 points for the game.
Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :
The Eagles would go down 6-3 at the half to the Falcons on week one, yet, would outscore the visitors 15-6 in the second half to get the low-scoring victory. The rushing game, led by Jay Ajayi with 62 yards rushing on 15 carries along with two scores, would get a one-yard run by Ajayi in the third period while he would once again reach the endzone again with 2:19 in the fourth as he would scamper for 11-yards to put the Eagles up 18-12 to seal the victory. They will need Ajayi to perform well this week for an Eagles team that is averaging 113 yards per game for a 17th ranked rushing attack as they will be facing a Bucs defense that would allow only 43 total yards rushing versus the Saints, for 2nd in the league. Running back Darren Sproles will be out with a hamstring injury. Nick Foles would end the game with 117 yards total along with a pick while the receiving corps was led by Zack Ertz who had 48 yards while Nelson Aghorlor had 38 yards on eight catches. Alshon Jeffrey , however, will be out indefinitely with a shoulder injury. The good part is the cornerback Vernon Hargraves will also be out for the Eagles defense with a shoulder injury while defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is probable with a knee injury, thus meaning that Foles and his playmakers may have some success in the passing game against a unit that ranks last in the league in pass defense.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers's Latest Performance :
The Bucs would go up 31-24 at the half while outscoring them 17-16 in the second half on their way to a 48-40-week one victory. Ryan Fitzpatrick would throw two touchdowns in the first half to DeShaun Jackson and Chris Goodwin which would put the Bucs ahead by 7 points at 24-17. Fitzpatrick also ran for a three-yard TD run. Tampa Bay’s Justin Evans would also return a fumble 34 yards for a touchdown as well in the first half. Fitzpatrick would end with 417 total yards in the air while Peyton Barber would rush for 69 yards on 19 carries. Mike Evans and Jackson would combine for 293 yards receiving with 3 touchdowns for an offense that would rack up 529 yards of total offense. They will look to exploit an Eagles defense that is ranked 15th in the league in pass defense as they would give up 225 yards to the Falcons in week one. They will also look to get their running game going with Barber, however, offensive lineman Cole Benenoch will be questionable to a knee injury. The Eagles defense will be at full strength, nonetheless, as it will be difficult for the Bucs to gain any yards on the ground on a unit that is allowing only 74 yards to their opponents, good for 7th in the NFL. Furthermore, receiver Jackson will be doubtful with a concussion, thus meaning the passing game will be limited, yet, they will still have Evans at their disposal.
How Philadelphia Eagles & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Tampa Bay is 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 1-0
Philadelphia is 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 0-1
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be a great matchup against two teams that will be looking to add another win to their belts after quality wins in the opening week. The Bucs will be looking to maintain their high-scoring passing attack against an Eagles defense that will be thin in their defensive secondary while the Eagles will look to exploit a Bucs defense that would give up tons of yardage to the Saints in week one and one that may likely be without one of their most effective pass rushers in Pierre Paul. In all, expect some scores in this matchup while the Eagles will look to get some pressure on Fitzpatrick in the pocket to disrupt the timing of the Tampa offense.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3
My reason for the pick :
I will gladly take the Bucs and the three points in this matchup, particularly, after their showing on offense versus the Saints. The problem with the Bucs will be their pass defense that will be without Hargreaves at cornerback. Nonetheless, the defense will look to pressure Nick Foles while utilizing that 2nd ranked rushing unit to neutralize Ajayi in the backfield to keep this game close while having a chance at winning outright on Sunday afternoon. In all, I really like the Bucs as underdogs at home versus a struggling offensive team in the Eagles.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 44
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the over in this contest as I see the Bucs picking up where they left off from last week in the passing game, even without Jackson possibly being a no-go at the receiver position. The Eagles, on the other and, will look to utilize their rushing attack on an 18th ranked rushing defense to open up the passing attack that will certainly challenge a defense that would be gashed by Drew Brees and the Saints in the opener. In all, expect the total to go well over the set total in what will likely be a high-scoring affair on Sunday.
