Buffalo Bills (0-2) vs Minnesota Vikings (1-0-1)

Date : 09/23/2018
Time : 1:00 pm EST
Location : US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Buffalo Bills vs Minnesota Vikings

The last time the Buffalo Bills and the Minnesota Vikings would square off versus each other, the Bills would get the slim, 17-16 home win, yet, the Vikings would cover the spread as 6.5 road dogs while the under was the play as the total was set at 43.5 points for the game.  On Sunday, they will meet once again at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for another battle amongst each other as each will look to get back into the win column on Sunday at 1 pm EST.  In their last outing, the Bills would fall to the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday by a 31-20 score at home as they would not cover the spread as 7.5 home underdogs while the total of 41.5 points was indeed surpassed.  On the other hand, the Vikings would tie the Green Bay Packers on the road by a 29-29 score while losing out on the spread as two-point favorites while the over was the play with the total being set at 45 points for the game.

Buffalo Bills's Latest Performance :

The Bills would go down 28-6 at the half at home to the Chargers in week two on two Stephen Hauschka field goals while their only touchdown of the game would come from Josh Allen to Kelvin Benjamin for a three-yard pass to end the scoring for the home team as they would be owned at home by a 31-20 final score.  Allen would have 245 yards total with two interceptions while LeShon McCoy would have 39 total yards on the ground on nine attempts to lead the rushing attack. Allen would also have 32 yards on the ground as well.  Zay Jones would have 63 yards receiving on two receptions to lead the corps in the loss as the Bills would only possess the ball for 26:58 seconds total.  They will now take their dismal offense to Minneapolis to battle a defensive unit for the Vikings that are allowing 339 yards per game, good for 13th in the league while allowing 22.5 points total to their opponents thus far.  To make matters worse for the Bills, McCoy (ribs) and Ray Ray McLoud (knee) are day to day with injuries; However, defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (calf) is also day to day for Minnesota.  Again, the Bills are ranked last in three of the major five offense categories except rushing yards (84 ypg, 25th) along with field goal % (75%, 19th); Yet, they would hope to find some scoring opportunities versus the Vikings who are ranked in the top half of the league in all defensive categories in 2018.

Minnesota Vikings 's Latest Performance :

After being down 20-7 after three quarters, the Vikings would explode for 22 points in the fourth to which they would end with a 29-29 tie in week two versus the packers.  Kirk Cousins would come alive during this time with three touchdown passes to Stephan Diggs along with a 22-yard touchdown strike to Adam Theilin wile Diggs would tie the game at 29 all with a two-point conversion to end the game.  Mason Crosby would power in five field goals in the tie for Green Bay as he would be the difference in the game in preventing a win for Minnesota.  The Vikings, on the other hand, would go 0 for 3 on field goals for the day while Cousins would end with 425 yards, four TD’s and an interception while Dalvin Cook would lead the rushing attack with 38 rush yards on ten carries.  Thielin would have 131 yards on 12 catches while Diggs would also have 128 yards receiving on nine receptions.  Kyle Rudolph and Cook would combine for 10 catches for 124 yards in the tie while Laquan Treadwell would have a TD catch in the game as well.  Cook (hamstring) and tackle Rashod Hill (ankle) are both day to day for Sunday’s matchup which could be an issue for their 22nd ranked rushing attack.  Nonetheless, the strength for the Vikings are their passing attack, which is putting up 320 yards per game (5th), as they seek to take advantage of a Bills defense that is allowing 246 yards per game along with ranking dead last in points allowed with 39 points per contest to their opponents.  To make things worse for the defensive unit for the Bills, Phillip Gains is day to day with an elbow injury while Shaq Lawson is still day to day with a hamstring injury.  This will certainly benefit Minnesota in that they are fifth in the league in total offense with 411 yards per game.

How Buffalo Bills & Minnesota Vikings Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Buffalo is 0-2 ATS while the O/U is 0-2

Minnesota is 1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Bills continue to look terrible on offense; Furthermore, their defense continues to be without critical pieces up front which will hinder their ability to stop anyone.  This will not be good thing against a Minnesota team that is destroying their opponents, particularly, in the passing game.  In all, the Vikings will look to utilize its rushing attack early on to which to Bills are ranked 22nd in stopping the run, while Cousins and crew will attempt to finish off the visitors with a healthy dose of Diggs and company.  This game could very well be over early on Sunday afternoon.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Minnesota Vikings -16.5

My reason for the pick :

While this may be a huge spread, when one considers that Buffalo is dealing with issues on both sides of the ball, it will make much sense to back the home team in this contest.  As stated, Cousins and the offense have been clicking on all cylinders and while the rushing game is yet to catch up with the passing attack, Cook remains a dangerous running back for the home team.  In all, I will take the offense to control the line of scrimmage with Lawson likely missing his second straight game while the defense for the Vikings will stifle Allen and the offense while covering the big spread in week three.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 40.5

My reason for the prediction :

Again, the Vikings are clicking on offense at this early time of the season.  With that being said, it would come as no surprise that the total will be shattered by the third quarter versus a Buffalo team that would go down 28-14 to the Chargers at home in last week’s matchup.  With Minnesota having much more talent and speed on offense, expect the score to be out of hand by the half which the total of 40.5 will be surpassed easily.
