Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks
The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Century Link Field in Seattle, Washington, for a week three battle versus the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 pm EST. These two teams would last meet on December 24, 2017, as the Seahawks would pick up the 21-12 road win as they would cash in on the 4.5 spread as road underdogs while the total of 47 was not surpassed. In their week two outing, the Cowboys would get their first win of the season with a 20-13 home win over their division foe NY Giants as they would cover the 3-point spread as favorites while the under was the play with the total being set at 42 points, altogether. The Seahawks would not play in week two as of yet, however, they would fall on the road to the Denver Broncos by a 27-24 score as the spread would be a push (-3) yet the over of 42.5 points was surpassed. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings amongst these two teams while the Cowboys are 4-1 ATs in the last five meetings at CenturyLink Field. Finally, the under is 4-1 in last five meetings, overall.
Dallas Cowboys's Latest Performance :
The Dallas Cowboys would get their first win of the season in beating division rival NY Giants at home in week two as Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot would both have touchdowns in a 20-12 win last Sunday. Prescott would end with 160 yards including a touchdown pass to Tavon Austin for a 64-yard strike in the first quarter while Elliot would have a six-yard run to make the score 20-6 in favor of the Cowboys with only five minutes remaining in the game. Prescott would also have 48 yards on the day while Elliot would end with 78 yards total. Austin would have 78 yards on two receptions while Deonte Thompson would have 33 yards on four receptions in the win. As usual, the Cowboys will look to exert themselves in the trenches verses the Seahawks in which to give Elliot some open holes in which to find some daylight. The Seattle defense would allow 146 yards per game in 2018 while the Cowboys O is putting up 116 yards per outing. Prescott and the passing game are ranked 30th in the NFL, however, they will look to find success versus a Seattle D that is allowing 324 yards to their opponents. In all, Dallas will look to have a successful game versus a team that is also allowing 27 points total per game this season.
Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :
Seattle would go down 17-10 at the half and while they would outscore the Broncos 14-10 in the second half, they would go down on the road by a 27-24 score. Russell Wilson would throw two touchdown passes in the final half, however, a Brandon McManis 55 yards field goal along with a Demaryius Thomas four-yard touchdown pass from Case Keenum would seal the victory for the home team. Wilson would end with 298 yards along with three TD’s, overall, yet, he would also throw two big interceptions in the game while Chris Carson would lead the rushing attack with 51 yards total. Brandon Marshall (3 rec, 46 yds, TD) and Tyler Lockett (3 rec, 59 yds, TD) would lead the receiving corps in the loss. The Seahawks would fumble three times in this game while holding the ball for a total of 24 minutes for the game. And while their rushing attack is ranked 30th in the league, they must be able to maintain their passing attack, which is averaging 242 yards per game, versus the Dallas defense that is allowing only 183 yards passing to their opponents through week two. Also, this will also be a battle of wills in that the Seattle O, which averages 24 points per outing, will be looking for a much better game versus a Dallas unit that is allowing only 15 points to their opponents, good for third in the league.
How Dallas Cowboys & Seattle Seahawks Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Dallas is 1-1 ATS while the O/U is 0-2
Seattle is 0-0-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-0
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be yet another interesting week three matchup in that the Cowboys will be looking to build from their momentum from last week while picking up a huge road win over the Seahawks. The Seahawks will also look to have a great performance in front of their home crowd. In all, expect this to be a low-scoring, defensive minded matchup that will heavily rely upon teams gaining an advantage in the running game, which presents an edge for the Cowboys with Elliot and his offensive line.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Dallas Cowboys +3
My reason for the pick :
While the Seahawks will come out with incentive to play well in their first home game, the Cowboys will also look to continue gelling on offense to become the dominant unit that they have been in recent seasons. With that being said, expect the Boys to play well in this matchup as the key to the game will be Prescott and the passing game as the defense for the home team gave up a ton of yards in the air to the Broncos in week one. In all, the Cowboys will show and prove in this matchup and while the Seahawks will be competitive, they will not be able to cover the small spread due to their susceptibility to give up big pass plays.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 44.5
My reason for the prediction :
I do not see many points being scored in this matchup as the Cowboys will look to establish the run while the Seahawks will find it difficult to pass (or run) on a stout Dallas Defense. It is for this reason that I will back the under in this game as I believe that both teams will battle in the trenches throughout, thus meaning that points will be far and few in between. Also, expect the Seattle secondary to play much better in this matchup as the Cowboys may have to rely on Elliot and the running game to pull them through to victory.
