Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans, fresh off their first win of the season, will travel to meet the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans at TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, for a divisional matchup on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 pm EST.  The Titans would win four of the last five games outright against the Jaguars with the last victory at TIAA Bank being a 37-16 road win as the Titans would cover the one point spread with the over of 42 being surpassed.  Nonetheless, the Titans are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven meetings in Jacksonville while the home team is 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings amongst these two teams, overall.  The Jaguars would pick up a huge 31-20 home win versus the new England Patriots last Sunday as they would cover the spreads as two-point home dogs while the over was the play with total runs being set at 44.5 points for the game.  The Titans would get the 20-17 home win versus the Houston Texans in week two as they would cover the spread as 3.5 home underdogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 4 points for the game, altogether.

Tennessee Titans's Latest Performance :

The Titans would get a Kevin Byard along with a Blaine Gabbert touchdown to spark the home team to a 20-17 home win over the struggling Texans in week two.  Ryan Succop would seal the game for the home team with two field goals in the second half as both QB’s would combine for 183 total yards along with two scores while Derrick Henry would rush for 56 yards total in the victory.  Dane Cruikshank (rec, 66 yds, TD), Corey Davis (5 rec, 55 yds), and Taywan Taylor (3 rec, 32 yds, TD) would lead the receiving corps for the Titans.  Despite the win, Tennessee is ranked 26th in total yards per game and will be matching up against a Jags team that is allowing 313 yards per game (7th). On the other hand, the strength of their offense lies in their running game which puts up 108 yards per outing for 15th in the league.  The issue is that the Jaguars are only allowing 98 yards per game on the ground to their opponents in 2018.  In all, this will be a tough mountain to climb for the visiting Titans, who will find it difficult to accomplish next to anything on offense versus a young and aggressive defense in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Jaguars's Latest Performance :

The Jags would get four TD’s from Blake Bortles as he would throw three touchdown passes in the first half to give the home team the 21-3 lead going into the half while also throwing a final TD to Dede Westbrook in the fourth quarter to make the score 31-13 in favor of the home team to seal the victory.  Bortles would end with 377 yards along with an interception while also rushing for 35 yards total.  TJ Yeldon would lead the rushing attack with 58 yards while Keelan Cole (7 rec, 116 yds, TD), Westbrook (4 rec, 83 yds, TD), and Corey Grant (6 rec, 56 yds) would lead the receiving corps for the Jags in the win.  In all, the 25th ranked defense in the league will certainly not look forward to seeing Jacksonville in week three as they boast the 12th ranked passing attack along with the 10th ranked rushing attack in the league.  Furthermore, the Jags are averaging 25 points per game while the Titans are allowing 22 points per game overall.  On the other hand, the Titans are ranked 24th in the NFL in yards allowed on the ground, so, expect a heavy dose of Yeldon and that physical offensive line for the home team on Sunday.

How Tennessee Titans & Jacksonville Jaguars Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Tennessee is 1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-1

Jacksonville is 2-0 ATS while the O/U is 1-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

As stated, the Titans, despite their week two victory, will indeed struggle in week three versus the Jags on the road.  Combine this with the fact that the home team will possess tons of momentum after their huge win over the Patriots in week two, the only concern I would have is that the home team may not take this game as seriously as they should.  Nonetheless, I happen to believe that this game will be a test of focus for the young Jaguars, as it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their intensity from week two and apply it to week three versus a team that they should dominate.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Jacksonville Jaguars -6.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Jags in this contest as they are not only the best team in this instance, but, are indeed the better rushing and passing team which posseses the type of talent that will certainly cause matchup problems for the opposing team.  Look for the defense for Jacksonville to be motivated to get back on the field in which to pressure Gabbert into making mistakes while they will go on to shut down their passing game over the course of the game.  Their rushing attack will once again take control in the trenches while covering the spread in what will be yet another effective outing for the up and coming Jaguars.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 39.5

My reason for the prediction :

While I do not see the Titans scoring many, if any, points in this matchup due to their overall lack of cohesion at the skill positions, look for the Jags to grind the ball throughout this matchup, thus allowing the clock to run continuously.  With that being said, I will back the under in this matchup as the Titans awful run defense (24th) will have to endure a heavy dose of one of the most effective run game in the league in averaging 121 yards per game.
