Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cincinnati Bengals vs Atlanta Falcons

The Cincinnati Bengals will travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, for an NFC showdown with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm EST.  In their last outing, the Bengals fell on the road to the Carolina Panthers as their defense allowed 230 yards to their opponents en route to a 31-21 loss.  The Falcons would also be defeated by a 43-37 score at the hands of the New Orleans Saints in their backyards as the road team would collect 395 passing yards in the win.  Their last matchup took place on September 14, 2014, as the Bengals picked up the 24-10 home victory to where they covered as 5.5 home favorites while the under was the play with total points being set at 49 for the game.  Matt Ryan threw three picks in this contest while the home team racked up a total of 302 total yards in the air along with 172 rushing yards in the win.

Cincinnati Bengals 's Latest Performance :

Christian McCaffrey had 184 yards on 18 attempts in the Panthers win over the Bengals this past weekend as the Bengals would also allow two passing and rushing TD’s to Cam Newton in their loss.  Carlos Dunlap had a sack in the game while Nick Vigil led the defense with nine tackles for Cincy in the contest.  Giovanni Bernard (12 rushes, 61 yards) put the Bengals on the board early as Andy Dalton found C.J. Uzomah for a one-yard TD pass to tie the game midway through the second period.  Nonetheless, Newton would find C.J. Anderson for a 24-yard touchdown pass to take the 21-14 lead at the half.  The Bengals only scored once in the second half as Dalton would find Tyler Boyd for a 27-yard touchdown pass to put the Bengals within seven points before Graham Gano nailed a 40 yarder to seal the victory for the Panthers.  While Cincy was efficient within the red zone (2-2), Dalton was sacked twice in the contest while the Bengals held the ball for only 26:05 minutes for the game.  The passing attack for Cincinnati remains 12th in the league in averaging 275 yards per game and will look to face the 27th ranked pass defense in Atlanta.  They will certainly need to utilize Bernard much more this weekend as the Falcons are also ranked 27th in rush defense for the year.  A.J. Green is day to day with a groin injury for the Bengals while safety Ricardo Allen is day to day with a calf injury while Derrick Shelby and Takkarist McKinley may not suit up for the defensive front for the Falcons as they are both dealing with groin injuries as well.

Atlanta Falcons 's Latest Performance :

Despite Matt Ryan’s two touchdown passes in the first half, the Falcons went into the half down by a 16-14 score.  Nonetheless, Ryan (374 yards, 5 TD’s) would find Calvin Ridley (7 rec, 143 yds, 3 TD’s), Tevin Coleman, and Mohammed Sanu (4 rec, 36 yds, TD) in the second half to put the home team up by a 37-30 score.  Drew Brees forced overtime with a seven-yard touchdown run while ending the game with a one-yard touchdown run in a game where both offenses combined for 941 yards of total offense.  Despite the loss, the Falcons increased their average points per game to 26.7 while their offense is ranked 11th in the league with 285 yards per game per game.  The Bengals are ranked 25th in rush and pass defense for the year as Atlanta will look to exploit their vulnerabilities in giving up big plays this weekend.  Michael Johnson and Ryan Glasnow will be day to day with knee injuries which will affect the defensive front for Cincinnati.

How Cincinnati Bengals & Atlanta Falcons Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Cincinnati is 2-1 ATS while the O/U is 3-0

Atlanta is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Both teams will enter this game looking to get a win after tough losses in week three.  The Falcons will look to test the Bengals secondary in this matchup as their offense has been lighting things up the past couple weeks while also utilize Coleman even more after Cincy allowed McCaffrey and the offensive line to push them around in the running game in week three.  Cincinnati will also look to exploit the Falcons within their defensive secondary as Drew Brees would have his way with them in their last outing while Bernard may have a decent day on the ground as Atlanta has not exactly stopped their opponents in any way from pounding the ball on their defensive front.  Also, with Shelby and McKinley possibly not playing, this will not fare well for a rush defense that is allowing 126 yards per game.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Atlanta Falcons -5.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the home team in this contest as I feel as though they will be focused on getting back in the win column after a division loss to their NFC South foe New Orleans Saints.  Furthermore, as stated, the Falcons are beginning to utilize their many playmakers on offense, which means that points will certainly be scored.  Cincinnati has not fared well on defense as it relates to both the pass and the rush and will certainly pay for this on Sunday as the Falcons will hand them their second straight loss in a high-scoring affair.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over (off)

My reason for the prediction :

AJ Green was not stellar versus the Panthers with only 58 total yards receiving, but, should be ready for this matchup.  With that being the case, expect the Bengals to put some points on the board thanks to a shaky pass defense for Atlanta.  As stated, Atlanta will indeed get some points versus Cincy’s defense which has not done much of anything versus opposing offenses this season.  In all, back the over as the strong play as both teams that possess multiple playmakers on offense along with experienced and talented individuals under center to go all out to get a much-needed win in this contest.
