Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks will visit University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona, to battle the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 pm EST on Sunday in week four NFL action.  In their last outing, the Cardinals would lose by a 16-14 score at home at the hands of the Chicago Bears while the Seahawks would win their first game of the year at home versus the Dallas Cowboys by a 24-13 score last Sunday.  In their last matchup, the Cardinals picked up the 26-24 road win over Seattle as they would cover the spread as eight-point underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 38 points for the game.

Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :

Seattle would come alive in the second quarter in scoring 17 points on the strength of two Russell Wilson touchdowns to Tyler Lockett and Jaron Brown along with a Sebastian Janikowski field goal to go up 17-3 at the half.  Chris Carson would punch in yet another touchdown early in the fourth quarter and despite a Dak Prescott touchdown pass to Tavon Austin midway through the fourth, the Seahawks would cruise to victory, despite giving up 166 yards on the ground to the Cowboys.  The defense was able to sack Prescott twice in the game while forcing a fumble late in the game to seal the victory.  Wilson ended the game with 192 yards passing yet was sacked five times in the win.  Tyler Lockett (4 rec, 77 yds, TD) and Bandon Marshall (2 rec, 30 yds) led the receiving corps while Chris Carson rushed 32 times for a total of 102 yards along with a TD in the win for Seattle.

Arizona Cardinals's Latest Performance :

The Cardinals had a promising start to their outing versus the Bears last weekend as they scored two touchdowns in the first period with Sam Bradford connecting with Ricky-Seals Jones along with David Johnson; However, the home team would not score against as the Bears would outscore them 16-0 in the final three quarters to seal the victory.  One of the reasons for the scoring drop off was the Cardinals rushing game, which only had 53 yards on the day with David Johnson leading the way with 31 yards.  However, the passing game would only have 168 yards total with Bradford having 157 yards along with two interceptions in the loss.  Christian Kirk (7 rec, 90 yds) would lead the receiving corps while Seals Jones (rec, 35 yds) would also come up big early on for Arizona.  The Cardinals would fumble the ball twice in the loss while losing one while the offensive line for the Cardinals would allow the Bears three sacks on the night as the home team held the ball for only 23:39 minutes in the game.  The 28th ranked cardinals rushing defense allowed 122 yards on the ground to the Bears while Mitch Trubisky threw for 220 yards along with an interception.

How Seattle Seahawks & Arizona Cardinals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Seattle is 1-1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-2

Arizona is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 0-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Seattle’s offense is currently averaging 21.7 points per game while the Cardinals are putting up 6.7 points per outing.  Seattle certainly has the better defense in this matchup as they are eighth in pass defense while ranking 29th in run defense in allowing teams 133 yards per game on the ground.  And while the Seahawks have been middle of the road in allowing teams a total of 348 yards per game, they are 15th in the NFL in points allowed per game with 21 points per contest.  Arizona, on the other hand, is allowing 25 points per game to their opponents while the pass defense has been a bit better from a statistical standpoint as they are allowing 261 yards per game, good for only 21st.  In all, this matchup will be amongst two struggling offenses that are looking to accumulate some type of momentum moving forward.  Offensive lineman Andre Smith is day to day with an elbow injury for the Cardinals while Olson Pierre is also day to day with a toe injury.  For Seattle, LB KJ Wright is day to day with a Knee injury while center Ethan Pocic has an ankle injury that is day to day.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Seattle Seahawks -3

My reason for the pick :

In a matchup of struggling teams, I will back the Seahawks since they were victorious in their last outing versus the Cowboys.  The win should provide much-needed confidence moving forward against a Cardinals team that is struggling both in the run as well as in their passing game.  And while the Seahawks will certainly need to shore up their run defense, they possess a solid and aggressive pass secondary that have a nose for finding the football in order to make plays.  In all, I will back the Seahawks in this instance to cover the small spread on the road versus a dismal Arizona squad on Sunday.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 38.5

My reason for the prediction :

There will not be many scores in this matchup as the Cardinals have struggled mightily on offense.  Wilson and company has struggled as well, yet, have some talent in Lockett and Marshall that can potentially cause headaches for a 21st ranked pass defense for Arizona.  Look for Seattle to score just enough to pick up the cover, yet, the total will not surpass its set limit.
